WindowBlinds will not open

Had posted a few days ago, but somehow not here anymore? Gist of it is this.

The WindowBlinds would not open, flashed for an instant and then gone. Recently I reformatted the Windows machine, all fresh and new. Hoped maybe that would fix it. But no, still same thing happens. Also tried in safe mode, still same thing. If ANYone has a suggestion, much appreciated.

Reboot and ReInstall the latest version from your account https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products/

Yes, thanks, Have used that purge file several times, still nothing. The link to the products seems to be dead, can you resend it?

The first "products" link is dead (try it), but the one you just sent is good However, the difficulty is not the version, have already tried several of them including the latest, but nothing works? It's ok, will have to let it go. Thanks and rgds.

It's likely Windows Defender or some other AV software deep scanning the executable for some reason, which by the time it gets done Windows thinks it failed to load.

I have disabled Windows Defender and also the firewall. Also tried in "safe" mode with, am guessing, any other possibly interfering progs disabled as well. Looking at the history I saw a few other people had the same problem, but they did not get a solution either. Would so much like to try this, sigh.

Have you checked the Windows Event Logs to see if there's anything showing up there?

Went to "Event Viewer" now, did not see anything named Stardock or WindowBlinds, but then again have no idea how to understand what is there. Also just tried again in "safe mode," with everything else presumably disabled. Flash and gone! Have also tried as administrator, not as administrator and in "compatibility" mode for Window XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1. Also tried meditating and sending good thoughts into the machine, at this point willing to try anything.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please try cleanboot and see if there is conflicting program with Windowblinds : https://forums.stardock.com/486023/windowblinds-support-faq#cleanboot. Try it and report back.

Thanks

Expand 'Windows Logs' & click on 'Application'. Look for warnings or errors & see if anything comes up. You may see other items in there but for now I would just focus on anything related to WindowBlinds.

i use windows 10, but when i want to install windowblids, system tell thats not compatible. windowblinds is coming soon this winter? right?

WindowBlinds "is coming this winter," you say? And then you ask "right?" How would I know if that's right or wrong; if you know the answer, what is it? Maybe there never was a chance to begin with if it's currently not working, and I have been beating my brains out for nothing. Discouraged.

Hello,

Have you tried my suggestion to do the Cleanboot above? (Reply#9) If you did, what is the result?

Thank you,

To Bask, and thank you for asking. Took me a while to get the courage to try it, but then did and, sadly, same thing. Which did not much surprise because when I completely reformatted the machine, starting from scratch, the WindowBlinds still would only flash. The Devil seems to be in charge of it.

PS was that fellow just blowing hot air when he said the WB would be coming soon, what did he mean by that? I know people toss off whatever BS they feel like without giving it a thought.

To Insomniac, Yes I see the WindowBlinds in the services.msc, but not the Start10. What do you recommend I should do next? Thanks

what is the service status on your rig? running or not?

if not, double click > click start and change start up type to automatic, then run wb

I believe it is something in your Windows defender setting. Only similar behavior to this is on ESET antivirus on its HIPS setting. You can refer here for it, and see if there is similar setting in your Windows Defenders that you need to change : https://forums.stardock.com/486023/windowblinds-support-faq#notinstalled. I read on the net that Windows Defenders also has such option in there.

Do have Windows Defender, but it's fully turned off, since it was, to me at least, a nuisance. There is a programme called Defender Control that disables it. Will continue to seek a solution, and if I live long enough (am pretty old) may one day find it. No ESET on the machine. Rgds and tx.

Also, sorry, should have also asked you this before. What is your CPU maker? Intel, AMD or ARM(Snapdragons) etc?

Yes, certainly. The machine, Windows 10, is a few years old but still fairly powerful. Processor is "Intel" 3.4 units and the ram is 32. Was thinking heat might be the issue, and the graphics card is very large, so took it out and substituted a smaller one I found in the junk box. Also removed the glass partition on the side of the machine and bought a 20-inch box fan in Walmart that am running on high directly into the works. Also, removed the three spinning hard drives, leaving only the "C," which is a SSD, fairly large, 2 units, and enough for everything in any event. Still nothing! Am trying to think of some other possible fixes. I think in the "bios" there is an option to adjust the voltage or make other tweaks, have not tried yet. Hoping eventually to solve this mystery.

Hello,

Your machine look fine to me and I really don't think its is because of temp. I really still these is something, software wise, blocking WB from working properly. BTW, what version of Windows you using? Please use Windows "Winver.exe" to get full Windows version numbers.
