Basic Functionality of Fence not able to work for me ?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hln00a2b0WYn

Hi Guys,

New User here, Just installed Fence and have started using it, but am facing some issues and have some questions hope someone will be able to guide me.

So I have some question about using Fence

So in this Video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hln00a2b0WYn

Tip Number 3 which is about Customizing Labels even when I select 'Never" for the Label Name to not show going in Fences Settings, the Title of the Label still shows. is that what this is supposed to be or have I understood it completely wrong ? What should ideally happen when I select Never to the Fence ? Can someone please explain me ?

Other Question I have is about Roll Up Fences So when I do a Double Click on the Fence Title firstly the fence title disappears and the fence expands showing what is inside that Fence and then it gets hung up there, It is stuck there meaning it just does not move, and then how do I bring it back to normal where it was showing the Fence Title. I have still not been able to understand what the Roll Up Fence actually does ?

The other question I have is about Create a Portal into Folder. Still dont know and cannot make it out what does it do ?

Lastly I would like to know if I am trying to save an image but I want to save images in a existing Folder into the Folder in Fences that has already been created at the time of first time installation and creating Fence after download how do I do that ?

I have an image and I want to create a new fence starting with that image I am not able to do that, how do I that ? I am not able to create new fence ?

And Snap to edges is not working for me I have to manually drag the Fence at the bottom to the Fence at the Top.

Can someone please help me with these questions?

Thanks in Advance !

The "Never" on labels, will not work if you have roll-up/down turn on or if that fence is portal fences.

When you double click on the Fence title and if you have roll-up fence on, it will be turn off and no longer roll-up. You will need to double click on that Fence title-bar again turn on roll-up back on. If you wish that Fences just to roll-down. You just need to hover your mouse over that fence titlebar. It will auto roll-up once your mouse move away from that Fence area.

The other question I have is about Create a Portal into Folder. Still dont know and cannot make it out what does it do ?
End of quote

Just as what a portal mean, it create a short cut to your Folders without moving it to your desktop. For example you can create a portal Fences that is link to your Folders where all your important files are save. That way you don't need to open up File explorer to get to it. With portal fence you just need to create it and link it to that folder. You can than directly excess all the files in there via that new portal Fence. Just remember that this is a portal link. So, if you delete any files in there, it will actually delete it from your actual folder.

Lastly I would like to know if I am trying to save an image but I want to save images in a existing Folder into the Folder in Fences that has already been created at the time of first time installation and creating Fence after download how do I do that ?

Not really sure what you trying to do. Just remember Normal Fences and Portal Fences is not the same. Normal Fences will contain something from your actual desktop. So what ever you put in there will always be in your actual desktop. If you create a folder in a normal Fence it will create that folder on your actual Desktop.

While Portal Fences, if you create a file or a folder it will actually be created in your linked folder to that Portal Fence.

So you are saying lets say if I have a Folder somewhere hidden in lets says this Path for e.g. C:\Users\acer\Documents\Downloads  are you saying Portal Fences will create a Fence Looking Area with the Files in my Downloads Folder onto my Desktop ? is that what will it do ? Because when I tried it that is what it is doing at the moment. But why would I want it on my Desktop Firstly it is cluttering the Desktop with another Fence and Secondly for such Files I can navigate it to the folder from my file explorer. I mean I do not get the big advantage out of creating a Portal Fence

What I am saying is when I installed Fence for the First Time, It asked me do you wanna create your own Fence or do you wanna let Fence Auto create it I chose the latter option. which said let fence create a automated fence for me. So what it did was it took all my existing Folders and Files which it thought would be right to Stack. Now it created One Fence called "Folder" which has several of my Folders inside it and one with the name "Pictures" My question is If I want to save a image which I download but in that Particular Folder inside that Fence called "Pictures" how do I do that ? is it possible ?

So I am saying I want to save an image into a Particular Folder of a Fence. Hope you got my question now.

Well depend on you as the users, for some, it help to speed up their work flow. Instead of open up a File Explorer and navigate to that folder to find things in it. User have it right there on the desktop. It may be roll-up and only active/roll-down when need something from there. And also remember that Fences has desktop pages.

Yes, this can be done. But its on the Fences level. Which mean it will be save into a specific Fence. Here few steps you need to do.

  1. Create a Fence and name it "Picture" (just as example, you can name it to anything you like)
  2. Open up Fences config windows.
  3. Navigate to "Sorting & Organizing"
  4. Tick on "Images"-> Images go to choose a Fence....
  5. Click on "choose a Fence.."
  6. From drop down menu pick you new Fence "Picture".

For example;

Now you have set all new image files on your desktop will automatically move to Fence name "Picture". Note that this will only take effect for all new image you save or move to your desktop. All other image that already on your desktop will not move into it. You will need to manually click and drag into that fence if you wish so.

No this is not what I meant, I am saying There is a Fence that has been already created when the first time I installed Fences. And I have named the Fence as "Projects" In that there is a Folder name "Pictures"(Which was from before on my Desktop before I installed Fences). What I want is all the images that I save should go into that existing Folder in the Fence. So the Fence Name could be "Projects" and the Folder Name could be "Pictures"

So I want my image to be saved in Fence Named "Project" and Folder named "Pictures" how can I do this ?

I don't think Fences can move automatically files into a Folder. This you need to do it manually.

But for my Portal Fence Question you said “ I did not understand when you said "It may be roll-up and only active/roll-down when need something from there." what do you mean by that ? Can you please explain?

That is not just for Portal Fences. Its for all Fences. If you have set that Fence to roll-up/down activated. ie by double click on its titlebar. It will always stay roll-up when there is no mouse hover over it. As soon as you move your mouse over it than that fence will roll-down and it will roll-up again when your mouse move away from that Fence area.
