Bug: After installing Start10 update, many full-screen applications are disrupted by task bar

As title says, last week or the week before I updated Start10, now the taskbar is interrupting full screen applications such as Chrome, Video players, Rise to Ruins (video game), etc.

I had to uninstall Start10, which resolved the issue. It would be much easier if I could have a "Disable Start10" in the application menu to troubleshoot these issues in the future with a checkbox, then re-enable after troubleshooting.

Someone mentioned an exe I could use in a previous report, but I can't find that in my Start10 folder, so must be looking in the wrong directory.

Start10tweak.exe has an option to disable Start10.

With regards to your issue, I think it is most likely your problem was caused by the most recent Windows Update which following on from the very buggy update earlier this year which broke the taskbar entirely with repainting in some circumstances, has now caused it to act oddly with focus.  This is caused yet again by the news and interests link on the taskbar.  If you disable this feature does the problem go away?

I can't find Start10tweak.exe in my Start10 folder. Can you give me the directory?

It's an issue directly with Start10, as turning off Start10 resolves my issues entirely for all the programs. Maybe an incompatibility with this new feature? If you give me steps to disable, I will try disabling these settings and seeing if Start10 works again without issues.

For what it's worth, the issue is as you described. When a fullscreen application should have focus, the taskbar takes focus or is overlayed over the fullscreen application.

Reading again, I have never allowed News and Interest, as well as disabled as many personalized data collection options as I could and killed Cortana. None of those things should be active.

Yes, news and interests is turned off. It's been disabled from the start. I turn pretty much all settings for collecting information or showing personalized content off. Start10 is still broken for me and takes focus from full-screen applications to the taskbar.

Are you able to try this test build?

It is an update to Start10 which should address an issue on Win 10 Aug update where the news and interests thing is causing loss of focus to the start menu and making it close unexpectedly.

It is possible the same issue is the root cause here.

In testing we have not been able to reproduce any issue with the taskbar appearing over anything and nothing in recent updates should cause that on our end.

Sure, I'll test. I'd like to help as best I can, so what I'll do is use OBS to record 3 situations. The first being the normal behavior without Start10 in Chrome, using a media player, and playing Rise to Ruins as those 3 are the ones I've noticed the most the past 3 weeks.

Second, I'll record those 3 behaviors with Start10 installed on it's current version

Lastly I'll record those 3 behaviors with this test build. I'll take care of this over the weekend, hope it provides some answers for all of us :)
