Groupy not working

Hello,

I had purchased Groupy, but it just didn't work.

I tried it on the simple windows, like Notepad or Windows File Explorer. But there is just no tab on the window, and the windows won't group together. I don't see any problem in the Groupy settings, it's just not working.

I also tried purge and re-install Groupy, still the same result.

I'm using the latest version of Groupy and Windows 10 20H2 build 19042.1110

Any ideas?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know more on your system.

  1. Need to know if your using Intel, AMD or ARM CPU?
  2. Did you installed in Groupy default directory?
  3. What setting you have on, a screenshot might help.

Thanks

Hi I have a similar issue.

I have been running Groupy for a long time and now it has stopped.  I see, momentarily the configuration screen and then it disappears and Groupy is not running when I look in the task manager.

I really miss the application and would like to get it back up and running.

Regards

David

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please try purge and reinstall steps as mentioned here: https://forums.stardock.com/488142/groupy-support-faq#reinstalling. Just make sure to re-download the latest version from your account. Reboot after the purged. Reinstall, and Reboot again after the installation. Retest it. Report back here.

Thank you,

Tried that, Basj, but with no success.

I can see Groupy is installed and when I run it I get the splash screen

But after I click the close the configuration screen very briefly flashes up and then closes immediately.

Do I need to run groupy as an administrator?

Note tried the Administrator route. No joy.

No you don't need to run as admin. BTW, I need to know

  1. Windows version, please use Winver.exe to get full Windows version numbers.
  2. Installed Groupy version.
  3. System CPU : ie Intel, AMD or ARM?

Thank you,

Basj,

I hope this is the information required.  The interesting thing is that Groupy had been working on this machine up to the middle of last week.  At least that's when I recall noticing the application was not active.

Windows version

Groupy version 1.4.9.1

Please try cleanboot as mention here : https://forums.stardock.com/488142/groupy-support-faq#cleanboot. Try it and report back.

I tried the cleanboot approach but failed to create a user.  This is a corporate controlled laptop and I think I am prevented from creating users.

Is there anything else I can try?  I have been without Groupy for a couple of weeks now and am realising how useful an application it is.

And the same policy may be preventing Groupy from working...

Things to check:

Is Groupy activated?  To check, you should have a License.sig here:

C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Groupy

Next, is the Groupy service running and set to auto-start:
