Fences has detected that explorer was not closed properly

I have already sent the log text to support but was directed here - I can find no solutions in this forum to this problem that can be understood by anyone who is not a software engineer.  I have already sent you an error log.  Please resolve this.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know more on your system:

  1. Is the system Corporate Environment?
  2. Do you have Forcepoint/Websence installed?
  3. Windows version, please use Windows's Winver.exe to get Full Windows version numbers.
  4. Fences version installed.

Thanks

I just rec'd the same message.  I am not in a corporate environment.   Upon starting my PC I rec'd a message that Fences needed to install an update. Since that time I am getting the message described above. I disabled my antivirus (BitDefender) and this did not fix the issue.

I do not have forcepoint or Websense installed

Winver reports Windows 10 21H1  OS Build 19043.1110

Fences 3.0.15

same problem for me, the update crashes the roll up folders.

windows Home,

21H1 OS build 19043.110.

Can the Update be Reversed?

Same problem with Fences 3 update...says Explorer wasn't closed properly (it was), then right click desktop and enable fences...this goes on endlessly...had to completely revert my computer to get rid of it...

Poor coding.

Purge and re install worked somewhat partially, but I still ended up just doing a system restore to get back to my early version.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Are all the reports here related to the latest Fences V3.1 update? If yes, I believe The Support and Dev team were informed on these issues and I do believe they are looking into it now. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.

Hello,

I also have the same problem with
Fences V3.1 update

Workaround - until fix ? - that worked on my computer Win Pro 21H1 : I recovered the system with a windows system restore toward the last restore point before the update to end up with the 3.0.9.11 version of fence that was previously installed.

Have encountered same problem after installing update to Fences v-3.1.0.5

 Window appears saying:

Fences has detected that Explorer was not closed properly.

As a precaution, Fences has been temporarily disabled.

To re-enable Fences, right click your desktop and choose ‘Enable Fences’.

Have tried to re-enable Fences as instructed, but no success.

 My system is:

Dell Lattitude in home (non-corporate) environment.

     Win10 Pro - version 21H1 (OS Build 19043.1110).

Neither Forcepoint nor Websence are installed.

I'm having the same problem. Not in a corporate environment. Using Windows 10. I went back to Fences 3.09 until I hear of a fix. Life is too short. Thanks.

Please do not download Fences from 3rd party. You should be able to download directly from the link I posted above.

I have same issue.  I paid $20 to upgrade to the whole suite, and still no luck.

Win10 Pro current version.  Running Norton, if that is relevant.

Please inform this thread when you get it fixed.

I have to revert to previous version; I have work to do.

Reverted to previous version and all is well (whew!)

This is Stardock's issue, not Windows wallpaper.  No point in going through all the BS "fixes" in that thread.  Revert to the original unitl (if and when) Stardock fixes the issue.  I agree, bad coding.  And I am out $20 I didn't really want to spend.
