Bug: Saved Group open on external monitor issue

I have a saved group that is set to open on an external monitor.

The issue is if I am using laptop without external monitor the group will position itself off-screen.

It should detect if no external monitor present/opening in non-visible area and open within the bounds of the active screen area instead.

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

I tested this, on a PC (not a LT \ docking station).

Saved a group on my second monitor
Closed it
Unplugged 2nd monitor
Opened saved group
It opened on the visible main monitor
Plugged 2nd monitor back in.
Opened saved group
Appeared on 2nd monitor

You may want to check that the PC does not think it still has multiple monitors attached:

That you are not attached to a docking station that things there are. Restart Windows Explorer after you are only with one monitor might be a sound test as well:

I have 2 external monitors, both connected via usb-c hubs with HDMI ports, no docking station. Laptop is a few months old Dell XPS15 with windows up to date so a pretty standard modern setup.

I restarted Explorer and tried re-opening the group, but it did the same and opened outside of the visible area.

I would suspect that is a factor, one that I cannot test, I am afraid.

You are on the most current version, 1.49, yes?

Is this bug being investigated any further?

Maybe you could get a test rig that uses USB-C connected monitors as this is now the modern standard and will be an increasingly common setup.

Not so sure about that but it is not something we can readily test.

If the monitor is unplugged then the groupy group does move itself to the main laptop the screen.

The issue is on initial launch. Could groupy do a check for where the screen bounds are and if it's outside of the visible area perform a calculation to position it within the visible area?

I have been having a similar issue: I normally run Win11 on my laptop with a 4K monitor (laptop closed) and a Groupy off to the right. If I shutdown and take my laptop elsewhere, the Groupy restores when I start it, but it is off-screen and the normal Windows trick of right-click on one of the apps open in Groupy will not let me move it on-screen.

I have found that if I re-zoom my screen (change Display properties from 150% to 125%, Groupy moves the group on-screen for my laptop and I can change back to 150% and the display stays good with Groupy visible.

I hope this helps you figure out the issue - all Win11 and Stardock apps are up-to-date currently,
