Not Installing - Restrictions Issue

Hi,

I bought Object Desktop a couple of days ago and haven't been able to install it due to a dialogue box popping up saying "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator."

I have never had that come up before.

It was late in the evening and I had been excited to get the various software up and running so it was quite disappointing not to do so and then to find there wasn't support for this other than on a forum.

Of course if this doesn't get resolved then I may look for a refund as it's not working at this time.

I look forward to any suggestions.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know more on your system.

  1. Windows version, please use Winver.exe to get Full Windows version numbers
  2. CPU type in your system. Intel, AMD or ARM?
  3. Have you tried getting your applications direct from your account here : https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products and install using those instead?

Thanks

Hello,

From your system, it look like you good to go. But, searching on the net on that error message. This came up and it might help you too : https://medium.com/@breich_84283/fix-this-operation-has-been-cancelled-due-to-restrictions-in-effect-on-this-computer-error-ec54825b30f. Try those and report back.

Was it something in the article that helped or did you try something else?  If the latter, what did you do?

I seem to be having this Issue with Windows 10

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7400 CPU @ 3.00GHz   3.00 GHz

8,00 GB

Windows 10 Home Single Language Version 21H1

Purchased on Steam

The message reads: This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator.

I have tried to do the regedit specified in a different thread with no success. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing. Issue persists.

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

Do this:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/create-a-local-user-or-administrator-account-in-windows-20de74e0-ac7f-3502-a866-32915af2a34d

Then try under it.  You can delete it (the new account) after if you wish.

And before you ask, Yes I tried running it with admin privileges and yes I did de-activate my antivirus before installing...

The solution did not work. The regedit article was for XP I think not Win 10.

What did not work, creating a new Win10 admin account did not...?

Even after adding a new user and going through the horror of creating a new user profile it still did not want to install. The restriction is still not fixed

That's not THE admin account. The hidden admin account is already there. Look here: Enable admin account
