I have DeskScapes 10.03. Recently it has taken to freezing when I make changes. I screen-captured the latest occurrence. The sequence of events was this:

  • I downloaded "Spring Scape" and applied it to both monitors. That's it displayed in the "Selected" pane at top.
  • Decided I didn't like it.
  • Switched tabs from "Online" to "Local".
  • Selected "Jungle Moon" and applied it to both monitors. Notice "Jungle Moon" is the title displayed at top.
  • Selected "Spring Scape" and deleted it.
  • Selected "Relaxing Autumn Porch Rain".
  • Noticed that the selected background did not display at top; "Spring Scape" was still there.
  • Tried to kill the DeskScapes window and found that it would not die.
  • Captured this screenshot.
  • Killed DeskScapes with Task Manager.

Notice in the screenshot that both "Jungle Moon" and "Relaxing Autumn Porch Rain" are selected, as shown by the blue bars on either side. "Spring Scape" is now gone from the list of backgrounds, but is still displayed at top.

This is the second time this has happened to me. It occurred both times when I deleted a background I had previously downloaded.

Hello,

Would you do this PURGE: https://forums.stardock.com/485954/deskscapes-support-faq#reinstalling

Reboot and ReInstall the latest version from your account https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products/

Reboot test and report back , please.

That seems to have worked. I did the purge, rebooted, and downloaded Deskscapes from my products page. This was listed under Object Desktop Manager as 10.02, but after installation the About page shows 10.03.

I went through the same process as before, installing a background, applying it to my monitors, then switching to another and deleting the one I downloaded. This time it behaved as expected with no freezing.

Hitting the windows  key, cntl, shift, and B at the same time quickly restarts the video driver. Takes 2 seconds and unfreezes the animations.
