Remote sessions way too slow with WindowBlinds

How can speed it up?

Hi,
I've been demo'ing WindowBlinds, tweaked it to my liking.  There's still one thing that remains as a big problem - when WindowBlinds is activated, remote sessions are way too slow.
Any suggestions I can try?

I can't type the text without waiting for a second for every several characters to show up.
Once WindowBlinds is turned off, the remote becomes very responsive.
I hate the flat design, eagerly want to use WindowBlinds but this bad remote performance is pretty hard to live with.

So far I've done these things:
  • Changed a GPEDIT policy to use TCP only for remote sessions - this helped to some extent but not enough.
  • Enabled "Do not use per-pixel frames" , but not much differences.
  • Reset WinSock - "netsh winsock reset"
  • Turned off TCP auto-tuning - "netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=restricted"
  • The above two helped to some extent, but not much
  • Using the theme "Diamond", which seems to be closest to Windows 7.

Thanks!

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

With any remote session software, graphic fidelity (and their underlying systems) are often compromised for performance.

Depending on what you are using for remote software, attempting to crank up the graphic options to maximum, or disabling WB for any session, would be prudent.

Hello,

Thank you for the quick reply.

I'm using the standard RDP (mstsc.exe) and the built-in server.
In this combination, there's probably high level of optimization at the graphic instruction level b/w in-proc drawing, dwm and RDP, which is likely not the case for pixel-based imaging and the way of theming.  A wild guess.

Still, I would like to use WindowBlinds in remoting whenever possible.  Not sure how to crank up the graphic side of things though... will continue to look around.

Meanwhile, maybe there's another remoting app that is faster than RDP in terms of graphics?

Thanks!

Hi, I would take a look at Anydesk. Teamviewer is good with graphics also.

It would also be interesting to see hour Curtain performs in comparison:
