Set a video wallpaper using the command line?

Hi all,

Does DeskScapes 8 support any kind of a command line interface? I'd like to rotate through my video wallpapers on a regular schedule, and using the command line would be the easiest way of doing that.

Does anyone know if this is possible?

Hello,

APPLYDREAM command line parameter will make DS apply something BUT it reads what to apply from the registry (DreamToApply value)

That does not really accomplish what you likely want.

There are some other options we are considering for a future version of DS.

Well, it's not optimal to have to edit the registry every time, but I can easily script this. Thank you!

For future reference, calling DeskscapesConfig.exe APPLYDREAM will read the DreamToApply key in Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Deskscapes, set the wallpaper to the specified file path and clear its contents afterwards.

Yes sorry im late to this.

DS8 contains an exe called "Dreamtasks" which can accomplish this and it accepts a basic syntax of

Dreamtasks.exe path/to/wallpaper

Ive been using it for years.

That is a truly excellent tip that I don't think I've seen mentioned before.  It's also in DeskScapes10.

and I can give you confirmation that it is rock solid; Scheduled, delayed tasks, no problems ever for years. Fireplace turns on at 6pm :-) I recommend "Smooth Flames"
