App-Shortcuts are not recogniced in auto-sorting.

it puts them in wrong fence!

Hi,

Thanks for developing fences! Great App!

So it works nice overall and when first time initiated - it worked and put everything right

however, when I recently added all the custom folders like this - the default ones - it put everything inside the Files & Documents.
But I want the Programs go to Programs of course.

Please check Screenshot and tell me how to fix it - or fix it in the coming update!

Best regards from Germany

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

The 'send to shortcut' does work, however, if you create a shortcut directly on the desktop to a program, Fences can have trouble with it. This is an example of both.  How I got the rule to apply to the last example was to delete it, then Ctrl Z to have windows recreate it thus Fences sees it as new:

What we can't account for here are conflicting rules (you have a few).

What would be best it create 1 rule, watch it work, then create more, watching each work.  If one conflicts, you will see that happen and possibly be able to adjust for it.

Hey, thanks for your suggestions and great support!

I found the Solution now!

This was a good Tip, about the conflicting rules! Of course - especially if it worked before. I could have come to that conclusion myself..

I really just wondered and could not imagine, that the default rules could make troubles.
But then first I deactivated all others and tryed only programs - this worked!
And then added others, until now after testing I found out - it was when the Downloads Folder was checked!
=Solution is uncheck Downloads Folder.

You should check for that issue. And exclude programm shortcuts from ever getting used by downloads folder routine.
I see the Fix incoming soon ;)

Also I never created manual shortcuts on desktop like in your vid example (who does that :D) - just create shortcuts from the program or file/folder itself (with ALT+drag&drop;)

Well it works now again.

Looking forward for Fences V4.

Thanks and best regards
