Using Windows 10. I have similar problems after the Windows update that caused others problems with Fences

I've gone thru the uninstall and ran the purge bat file. After the reboot, with Fences not installed, I still have large "fences" around icons. These do not seem to be the programs fences, possibly just a shadow but icons cannot me moved out of them. Each fence that remains shows one centered icon. Apparently my other icons are behind it. Dragging does not move the top icon.

In the Windows task manager, under processes or startup, there is no mention of Fences or Stardock. The same is true under the Programs and Features in Windows settings.

I reinstalled Fences 2.0. I am able to create a fence and selected to put all new icons in this fence. I created a new shortcut and when it was put in the fence it had the very large shadow around it. I created another shortcut and had to use the scrollbars or mouse wheels to just see it.

If I was able to attach a screenshot I'd show you what I'm looking at.

I would at least like to get my normal desktop back without reinstalling Windows. Then look to reinstall Fences 2.

If you could get me to a normal desktop first that would be great.

Sorry to hear you are having issues.

1) You can upload the screenshot to any picture sharing site such as imgur and paste the link here.

2) Please try the following:

For Win8/10 Users: Open the Start Screen, and type 'cmd'. Right-click on the search result and select 'Run as administrator' from below.
Type: sfc /scannow
Wait for the scan to complete (this can take several minutes)
Some help on how this looks should you need it:

If the SFC finds errors, but cannot fix them, please also run the following command in the same command prompt window: dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

The above command should assist with replacing any damaged or problematic system files. Please note, however, since it may require restoring certain files, this process can take some time and you will need to be patient until it has completed.

That wasn't the problem.

I ran the scan and is said that "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations."

Regrettably, Fences 2 is not compatible \ supported on Windows 10 nor has it ever been.

Please consider upgrading to Fences 3:
