Cannot apply most soundpacks listed in sound manager

Just bought the object desktop manager and installed a few things from it.

It's okay but to get modern, comprehensive skins at wincustomise, you seem to have to pay more money. The built in ones are not very special.

The sound pack manager doesn't seem to let me apply most of the supplied sounds, I seem to have to go online to find any from the interface, download them and can't apply them either?

Correction. The sound packs are indeed applied but there was no visible notification if this happening at the time.

Wish I hadn't wasted my money.

You can download the same content as from WC via the online tab in the app.  There is no fee for this.

To apply a sound pack you press the apply button and it will apply the sound pack and play one of the sounds from it.
