Alt-Tab not working as intuitively expected (switching between sets/groups)

I just bought Groupy off Steam and tried it for a bit. Immediately there are very mixed feelings as the tool is not proving to be useful in the way I expect.

1. Most importantly, Alt-tab still behaves the same as before, showing all 20 open items and having me cycle through them. I imagined Groupy would help resolve this alt-tab clutter by enabling alt-tabbing between sets/groups, while using the configured hot-key to cycle between tabs of the same group.

2. Secondly, I expect the group to behave as one object for certain actions (like in the taskbar). One click minimize/maximize doesn't work for groups in taskbar. You have to go and click over one of the items of the group that appear upon hover, to maximize the group. But that same action doesn't even work for minimize.

3. In the same vein as above, There is no button for closing entire group at the top-right. You have to go to the three dot settings to do this. (I just saw that this ability is now in beta and will hopefully come in main, so that's good).

4. I created a saved group of 3 file manager tabs, and opening it from start menu collapsed the top ribbon into an unusable state. Also, after opening closing the saved group a couple times, the group stopped opening as one window, but multiple windows. However, it was not possible to add them back, as I think groupy still thought they were grouped. I fixed this by closing and restarting groupy.

Overall, this seems like a solution that could be great but is not very useful in current state. The alt-tab issue is a deal-breaker for me, so please let me know if I have missed some setting that changes that behavior.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues.

I believe, most of your issues were resolved in the new Groupy v1.36 and now 1.37 beta which you can refer here : https://forums.stardock.com/500347

It should be available on Steam soon, after it get release as full release version.

Thanks

Thanks for the response. Does that version address the Alt-Tab issue as well? I looked through the change log but it doesn't seem it does.

If the behavior of Alt-Tab is a matter of preference rather than technicality of implementation, I would much appreciate it if you could look into providing that as an option.

Specifically, my request is for Alt-Tab to cycle through groups/windows/sets and not each individual tab etc.

If it is not listed in there, than, no.

I have forward your request to the Stardock Support Team for their review and recommendations.  We really do appreciate your feedback, Thanks

So I found the setting to "only show a taskbar button for active window in a group". This is a manageable workaround for the alt-tab clutter I mentioned.

However, as a suggestion, it would be better if the following could be done - hovering over the group in taskbar still showed all tabs of the group, so that one can be aware of the tabs in the group and click directly into one of them. But when alt-tabbing or clicking on group in taskbar for maximize-minimize, only the active window was operational, so that alt-tab clutter would be reduced.
