Groupy breaks lots of Windows 10 GUI elements

I had give Groupy another try last week, and installed it. But then noticed after some time, that certain GUI elements of Windows 10 were now broken and couldnt be opened anymore.

For example gpedit, or the network GUI window, when I click on them I get this message:

Trying to open gpedit:

Trying to open network settings over ( https://i.imgur.com/qQXazeS.png ):

It says something like "Cant open the device or path or the file. You maybe dont have the necessary rights, to access the element.".

Deactivating groupy and rebooting Windows 10, and it works again.

I am using latest version of Groupy and latest stable version of Windows 10 1909.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need more information.

1) Window 10 version. Please use Winver.exe for full Windows 10 version.

2) Groupy version.

3) Antivirus/security setup you have installed.

Thanks

Hello,

Please check and disable controlled folder Access if it is turned on. Here a guide to do that :

https://support.microsoft.com/en-my/help/4046851/windows-10-allow-blocked-app-windows-security

Try it and report back.

Thank you,

Try the purge and reinstall steps as mentioned here : https://forums.stardock.com/488142/groupy-support-faq#reinstalling

Just make sure to re-download the latest version again from your account. Reboot after the purge and reinstall. Reboot again and retest. Report back.

Thank you,

The issue is now "gone" or back to normal, after reinstalling Groupy. I will monitor it over the next weeks, if it happens again. So it has to do with Windows Defender?
