[SOLVED] Strange shrinking of tray icons in my custom theme.

Windows 10 1909

Hi everyone,

I've recently purchased WindowBlinds and I'm really happy with the level of customisation available - even though there are quite a few things incompatible with the latest Win10 updates.

Anyway, I've recently tried to create my own theme - a Windows 9x recreation. However, I've noticed upon completing and applying the theme that the system tray icons get distorted - slightly shrunk. It always happens to the battery and Action Centre icons, and sometimes it will happen to all of them. I've tried applying other skins, they don't have that problem (please see attached image). I'm not sure what's causing this or how to solve this.

The first taskbar shown is my Windows default. Second is from The Captain theme, the last two are mine - see how in the last one all icons are shrunk.

Distorted/shrunk systray icons

Things I've tried:

- System restart.

- Playing around with the text margins within the taskbar options in Skin Studio.

- Changing taskbar height (both from SkinStudio and by dragging the taskbar iteself).

- Placing the taskbar on top/right/left.

- Using Small/Large taskbar icons (from Windows 10 settings).

Frankly I'm stuck. Any help in this regard would be appreciated.

Doesn't seem like that big of a deal to me... -If it doesn't affect something Vital to performance why bother with it? ^_^   If it's That important to you, I think it looks like your Skin system-colors like button highlight/shadow etc are set to colors that gives them an impression of looking smaller...

I mean, the entire point of WindowBlinds is aesthetics, not performance.

Anyway, if you look closely the icons are definitely shrunk. Here's a side-by-side comparison.

Any suggestions?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Not really sure about where the issue came from. But if you wish, you can share your work somewhere, and share the link here so we can have a look at it.

BTW, does the icon shrinking issue still occurs after you reboot your system?

Thanks

Thanks Basj for your reply. Here's a link to the WBA package. Please note that this is still a work in progress so there are some rough edges and unskinned bits.

Please let me know how you get on.

And yes the issue persists after restarting the system.

Hello,

I think I figure it out. Try this. Change the "CaptionHeight" to higher value. I tested it work when you put in 24 or more.

Note : Sometimes you'll need to restart Explorer to see the effect.

Ah, worked like a charm. Thanks, Basj.

I also have another couple of issues that I can't seem to solve on my own. Should I post them here or open a new thread? Thanks.
