DeskScapes 10.2 WinCustomize Dreams and some Standard Dreams Not Working Blackout

I make test and run dreams daily and with that Direct Show EVR setting they

all work for me , so let's try this first .

 I did it all yesterday after i installed it the first time. Complete uninstall and download the latest version without Object Dock manager. k-Lite Codec Pack Mega.

Multi reboots and lot of tests.

Spring, Vintage and planktonci give --> "There are no parts to disable in this background" --> Complete Black Screen by Apply.

Alienware Neo, Sea World 4, StarField from Online WinCustomize --> Black Screen, but not really black everywhere, see some blurry big blocks brown/grey.

The Purge is different than a regular uninstall - try it

also re download from your account My Downloads not Object Desktop Manager - Try it

Reboot after each ...

I also use the K Lite mega Pack - no issues .

I purged it as admin, reboot, download 10.02 from Account, Install as admin.

Nothing happens, I did this above twice but no chance.

Issues

- Pic 01 --> Preview of Sea World 4, the fish swim and works.

- Pic 02 --> I Apply Sea World 4, almost black screen but not complete.

- Pic 03 --> Preview of Standard Dream Spring, It's a complete Black preview and this happens also when Apply.

The only thing what changed is what i say in my other post. Now the default transparency is 100% visible, now i can see my Fences.

I hope this value would stay at 255 - 100% visible, when i change something / or not and push the OK button.

If so then we can close that post.

I clean boot the machine and DeskScapes not working. I purged it at clean boot and reinstall. Nothing helps.

I tried it also as screensaver, when i activate the screensaver with a not working dream it comes up, then freeze.

Screensaver stays at Top of the screen and cannot disable or kill in Task Manager. Only solution is to kill the machine with the Power button.

Do you have some special settings in the K-Lite Codec Pack or all default with installation.

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

As has been stated many times prior - in other posts - 3rd party codec packs are not needed for DS10 to work properly and could very well be the cause of the issue - certainly one that we cannot eliminate as a possibility unless it is removed.

Please do so.

it's a complete new and clean system.

I installed it because DeskScapes 10.02 was not working as expected.

Then no doubt its something else but any codec pack being installed will be a variable we would want to eliminate.

Also, for the time being, we need to only be working on the Dreams that shipped with DS - to know what ones show only black when applied.  It would also be prudent to make sure this is not checked:

And perhaps, for testing purposes, uninstall Fences after you manually create a snapshot.  It can be reinstalled, and the snapshot restored (not removed with an uninstall), after testing.

This is not the problem with this case, this is about Fences Blurring. That's not the problem.

My Alienware R9, I9-9900K, NVidia 2080 Super, 16Gb Ram gives no Dream on Desktop except the moon, earth. See Pics.

If I set it as Screensaver, this ultimate gaming PC gives only a frozen Screensaver screen with the dream on Top. Only solution is killing the machine by the power button.

One problem at a time.

So your issue is with Hybrid dreams only, yes?

Planktonic is a video dream, not dynamic - and would not have any 'parts' to disable.  Were you mistaken in including it here?

What change - from what post - post an image of what you changed, where, and if you change it back to what it was, does it work?

That other issue / case was with the transparency and Fences invisible and very blurring.

The problem was that the sliders on the advanced tab every time go back to the invisible value. When that problem was solved the Fences were visible and issue solved.

Don't mix 2 cases.

Alle options are enabled on the triple line left of DeskScapes.

Problem with Dynamic and Hybrid dreams, only the Earth, Moon, Mars, Shapes, Winter working.  Wincustomize Dreams don't work and the Water Dream changes wallpaper but see no water waves.

You don't need K-Lite Codec pack for DeskScapes you said

I uninstalled the K-Lite Codec pack and DeskScapes put the message "No Decoder Found for the Background" --> Download Decoder goes to the Microsoft MPEG2 Decoder from the MicroSoft Store, but my system say "It's Installed".

A week ago i tried this all, i uninstalled this MPEG2 Decoder and Reinstalled it, but DeskScapes stay pushing  "No Decoder Found for the Backgroud" .

Nothing helps, only the K-Lite Codec pack.

For what Dream that ships with DeskScapes - not one found on WinCustomize?

For that Dream, is there a folder for it here:

C:\ProgramData\Stardock\DeskScapes\ExtractedData

If so, are there files in that folder?

If all (video) dreams that ship with DS work, please provide a WinCustomize link to the video dream that does not - one that does give you a decoder error.

I also need to know, if after you try to apply it, if it has a folder here and if there are files in it:

C:\ProgramData\Stardock\DeskScapes\ExtractedData

If there is a folder for that Dream, and you open it, can you play the video that is included in it, example:

I have had the "no suitable decoder found" since last year. I never installed any codec pact. I have done the purge (not uninstall), clean install,etc, ect too many times to count. I've just been able to run .mp4 files.

I just don't understand why dreams still do not work.

WMV and AVI movies working except the MPG.

Planktonic (Default) = AVI, Don't work in DeskScapes 10.02 

Alienware Neo (WinCustomize, choose in DS Online "Alienware Contest") = WMV,  Don't work in DeskScapes 10.02

Sea World 4 (WinCustomize, choose in DS Online "Featured") = AVI, Don't work in DeskScapes 10.02

Space Earth (WinCustomize, choose in DS Online "Featured") = AVI, Don't work in DeskScapes 10.02

Star Field  (WinCustomize, choose in DS Online "Alienware Contest") = MPG, Don't work in Windows 10 and then also not in DeskScapes 10.02 (No Decoder found) The MPEG-2 Decoder from Microsoft Store is installed, but also a downloaded test MPG file Fail. It's an issue outside DeskScapes.

This is without K-Lite Code Pack and with MPEG-2 Decoder Microsoft.

It's  strange, it's not only me. A lot internet forums are full with this about DeskScapes 10 and lot people want back to DS 8 

Refresh all codecs, that WMV, AVI and MPG run smooth in the Video Player. Only possible with K-Lite Codec Pack, but now installed the Standard instead of the Mega.

Install DeskScapes 10.02 executable from the StarDock website in my Account.

Register License.

Reboot

All problems are the same. Also the Star Field Dream with MPG which the MPG is running smooth on the PC, but DeskScapes 10.02 give the Message "No suitable decoder found".

And an EXTRA PROBLEM comes back --> The sliders in Settings Advanced Tab again going to invisible, when i put them fully visible to see Fences 3 an push OK, the values go back to Invisible. Now case 1 issue is back.

This is really annoying, 15 years. 8 PC's were corrupted by StarDock Software.

This 2 cases were from the newest PC. I tried the StarDock Software again and the StarDock Software did it again, an ultimate gaming PC cannot handle it and corrupt in 3 weeks.

I think on the other 7 PC's and Laptops I tried to solve the other 75 issues (DeskScapes, Window Blinds (Defaults not back), Cursor FX,(Default cursors corrupt, WindowFX)), but i uninstall it every time after years of troubles and try to get Defaults back.

A test on my PC running win10 1909 with all those Dreams you mentioned above

and they ALL work and run fine on my PC .... I think a couple are my dreams , anyway.

If you uninstall Deskscapes from your PC does everything else run perfect ?

If not run Clean Boot again to see which programs still have  an issue .

are all your windows updates updated ?

Is your version of windows a real OEM version .

Was your version of Windows a Fresh New install or did you upgrade

over an older win version ( if so what version ) ?

also when you installed KLite did you install the default set up

or did you make any changes to the set up ?

It's a complete new PC with the best of the best hardware and new Windows 10 Pro 1909 with all updates. Price 3200 Euro. All software is running so smooth and terrible fast without DeskScapes, only when config the told dreams as a background, they not loading or total black like the shared pictures in a reply above. When i set some as screensaver, then my screen is filed with a frozen screensaver and overrule all others screens on Top. No Start Button or Task Manager. PC runs smooth but i cannot see or click other screens to kill or reboot. K-Lite is a Default Setup. Alle movie files run smooth on MPC-HC. DeskScapes give also the same problems on a Clean Boot, 2 times a Complete Clean Boot tried.

Extra: After i had complete purged DeskScapes for 2 days and was gaming yesterday with a heavy game where i had some strange issues. But now this game running so smooth, fast and good. But i had no issues before with that game, and now it's so clear. This issues start after the first install of DeskScapes 10.02 and are gone after purging/uninstall.

Again, I want to focus on one issue at a time - the decoder issue - please stick to commentary on just that.

Exactly.  That needs to be figured out by you.

As a test, we have created a Planktonic dream that does not use AVI but MPeg4 instead.  Please download this Dream:

And unzip it to:

Open the DS10 UI and you should see the new one and the original.  Upon clicking \ applying the new one, it should extract here:

C:\ProgramData\Stardock\DeskScapes\ExtractedData

First, the MPEG-2 Decoder from the Microsoft Store is not working. Everybody at the Microsoft Store Type in the commentary that it's not working. That's strange that AVI plays everywhere with or without MPEG-2 Decoder of MS, but Planktonic don't work, only a MPG is difficult.

The PC is clean, fast, smooth, good and play every movie file. But now it's without DeskScapes 10.02 installed.

I shall download that file and try it when i go install DeskScapes again.

Installed DeskScapes, Placed Planktonic 2 at the location by the other dreams. Nothing, Preview of all dreams were good and moving.

Only Earth, Moon, Mars working. Little wait and then they load (loading pic in cursor).

The others, nothing happens. They don't load and screen stay black or if i before loaded earth, moon, mars then a frozen/stopped/paused earth, moon, mars stay in screen.

The extracted data at C:\ProgramData\Stardock\DeskScapes\ExtractedData is visible after applying.

Purged DeskScapes after try as fast as possible, i see a performance difference with DeskScapes installed.
