Remote Computers - Black Screen

I've had a 'black screen' issue with remote PCs.

I start Multiplicity and hit the KVM tab.  I pick one of the remote PCs.   When I connect, I get a black screen.

To fix this, I normally connect for a few seconds with Teamviewer to ‘shake it awake’.  No kidding, this is two seconds, just to the password screen.  Then Multiplicity works perfectly.

Important to note that the remote PCs are NOT asleep.

This makes me wonder if the Ctrl + ALT + Backspace would work here then:

Or the switching to an alt monitor if the remote does indeed have one (the next post after the link I posted).

If not either, is the remote PC headless (no monitor at all)? If that is the case - Windows itself may be the cause.  These are super cheap, and equally as effective, to remedy that

If this is a PC with two video cards (one integrated Intel), I would like to have you review this post:

Yes, the remote PCs are headless.   So far, CTRL-ALT-Backspace has worked perfectly!   Thanks for the help Sean.  Appreciate it.
