Start Menu Icon Re-created Every Day

At the same time that Object Desktop started opening every time I booted up my system (See thread https://forums.stardock.com/497789/object-desktop-manager-starts-on-its-own-annoying)  , it also started re-creating the Stardock folder and Object Desktop icon(s) every time I boot up.

This is really annoying, too. I use Start10 so that I can maintain my start menu organized the way that I work. I want Object Desktop to create a start menu icon only when it is installed and not every day. If I wanted my start menu cluttered with folders from every software package, I would just use the default Windows start menu and skip Start10.

This is not a selectable option in settings, so please either 1) update Object Desktop stop doing it altogether or 2) provide an option to turn off that behavior.

I agree that sounds unacceptable.

Not sure why that is happening but I have raised it internally so whatever the bug is that's causing that for you is resolved.

Do you have Stardock Central installed?

Sounds like there is an issue with Stardock Central trying to upgrade itself to its successor Object Desktop.  If you have Stardock Central installed please try uninstalling it as it is no longer supported.

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

We have identified an issue with clients still having elements of the old Stardock Central installed.  We are updating a service here to prevent what you are seeing here.

Sorry for the frustration.

Wow! 3 support members to the rescue!  That's what I call support!

I was referred to this thread by a prior and now locked thread to which I posted on the subject by sdRohan. None of the three machines on which I'm seeing the issue have Stardock Central installed. One of them was just built in late October of last year, so there's no chance it has ever had it installed. Any other ideas?

I created an account specifically so I could post here and say that I'm having the same issue. Stardock used to quietly do its job but now I'm greeted by it at least once a day with or without a reboot. How do I make it behave?

I have never had Stardock Central installed. I am not finding any indications that Object Desktop is re-installing.

Ok, while the SDC thing needed to be addressed as well, we think we found the reason for what others are seeing.

The next time your ODM client updates, it should fix the issue you are seeing.

Sorry for the trouble and thanks for the reports.

I updated ODM from 4.0 to 4.01 two days ago and it has not opened on the desktop by itself and it has not re-created the start menu folder and icon at each boot/login.
