10.83 bugs

Hello

since the update 10.83 I have observed a number of bugs connected to faulty painting of theme elements. The bugs occur in my own theme as well as default themes that come bundled with WB.

1. backgrounds of buttons that select different view styles in explorer fail to paint.

2. background of buttons of apps like irfanview are black and another, more annoying issue is that when you go to print dialogue window most of its elements fail to draw! They become visible only after I move mouse pointer over them. Image 2.1 and 2.2 illustrate the bug

3. in "save as" dialogues/windows backgrounds of buttons don't get drawn. The example in the image is from Irfanview but the same thing happens in e.g. Photoshop.

Lastly, this versionof WB disables skinning of Firefox but in one fell swoop you disable skinning of other applications that are developed off an old branch of FF (prior to the big UI changes). An example is Pale moon and email client Interlink Email @ News. These applications use the old FF engine but get security and stability updates so that users can enjoy the familiar look and have the interface skinnable. Your Global disabling of themeing of these apps goes against the idea of themeing.

Btw, my update to WB .83 was preceded by uninstall of the previous version, restart, purge, and then install of .83. Ive done that 2 times already.

My sys info:

Windows 10 Home (18362.19h1_release.190318-1202)
WindowBlinds 10.83 (058 - Windows 10 Edition) - 64 bit OS

Apologies for the issues you have encountered.

I have checked here and can confirm there is a painting issue relating to toolbar backgrounds and some groupboxes.  This has been addressed internally.

With regards to firefox, we plan to modify this for the next update which will only exclude for Firefox.exe and will also offer the option to disable this exclusion if the user so wishes.

I am unsure why QA failed to catch those issues and I will be discussing it with them next week so we can avoid a repeat of problems like this.

Hello, I noticed the WB toolbar painting issues as well as it not painting Firefox. Was that known prior to uploading it? Anyway, where do I find 10.82 version? I didn't have any issues with that one.

Did you save/backup your 10.82 version when you downloaded it before ?

Check your downloads folder ?

Should always do a backup incase you want to revert back .

I usually backup everything.  In this case, however, update was done though Object Desktop subscription.  I figured Stardock would make prior versions available to subscribers for cases such as this.  I have made sure my company does that for our customers.

Have exactly the same problem here with black backgrounds of button toolbars.

e.g. Sysinternals AutoRuns, XMedia Recode. and some more older programs.

Makes the text unreadable. Also have text problem in general with 10.83, the text is too Sharp.

Have tried to fix it in skinstudio but no avail.

These BLACK Toolbars are showing up on several of my apps (ie, IrfanView, RoboForm, SUMo, PopPeeper, & others). Please work on a new WindowBlinds update as soon as possible.  I'm not sure, but this problem might also be related to a Windows Update Graphics Driver push that came out a few days ago.  Thanks for your hard work.

I saw a mention that the taskbar clock was painting in black instead of the color it was assigned was fixed, but I still see some issues. On my first monitor the language bar (showing the  currently used language/keyboard) is black, the clock is white and the clock on my other monitor is black.

They should all be white.

Although when I hover over (or just randomly do something) they all turn to white. (so at the moment I can't take a screenshot as it looks right again).

Hi! Just confirming the black toolbar background bug using 10.83. Personally, I've only seen the bug on the toolbar in Euro Truck Simulator2's map editor. I've now temporarily reverted to version 10.82 to solve the issue.

Looking forward to a fix! |-)

Curious, I just attempted to open OB Desktop for 10.84 and got a big dialog box saying Servers Down, etc., etc., If 10.84 was pushed, where to? I also looked under Windownblinds About: it says no updates found. Have a good day..

I still have problem the date/time and language bar text changing color between black and white seemingly randomly. I'm using Retiredmaster's Pico style.

Both, the language indicator is only on the primary monitor, the time and date on both. They all change occasionally between black and white. I'm not sure what triggers it other than when I try to take a screenshot on the main screen, lang bar and time-date changes to all white. (I use greenshot and ctrl-shift-PrintScreen shortcut, printscreen press changes the text to white)

I don't think video would make it anymore clear what can be red on my description. The text color changes from time to time without any apparent reason. It changed maybe 3 times during the time I wrote this message.

I saw this issue for sometimes but its only happened on Time on secondary. Time on Primary never change. And now I notice it also happen on language selection too. This only happen on theme that set different color text for their taskbar buttons. In Pico case the active taskbar button is set to black and inactive is white. So the Secondary Time will change between black and white font color. I have forwarded this issue, and will forward it again today to the Stardock Support team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate you feedback and patience.

Note, simple solution is to change Pico active taskbar font text color to white in Skinstudio.
