planet dev menu problem after last patch

build queue in upper left corner

I started up a new game today after a couple of weeks, and couldn't find the upgrade queue for my planet in it's new place next to the list of choices, it was moved to the upper left corner of the page, took me a while to find it since it overlay the graphic and was hard to see (no mods enabled; ver 3.96).

According to the change log for 3.96, that should have been fixed:

"Updated the Planet window so the Build Queue buttons don't break out of their frame in Normal UI scale."

Have you tried a Steam verify files to make sure you got the whole patch?

Not yet, but I can.  I'll let you know if that worked.  Can't make a change to the queue once it's in there, either.   Bleh, I hate the "new" interface on Steam, Can't just make a list of my installed games now, have to apply a damn filter  and apply it every time you open steam.  But validate did find four files to fix, so maybe that was it.

Edit:

Nope, got the updates ok, but still have the queue in the upper left corner.  Maybe a new install.  Haven't had to do that to a Stardock game for a very long time.

Re-installed it, started a new game, still have the queue in the upper left corner.

Is this with the same game after verifying/reinstalling? If so please share the save game here. I'll escalate this to QA.

How do I add a file?  nothing pops out to me.  And yes, I have several different starts/saves from different times yesterday & today.

I am having the same problem. Verified files first, and it did say three files were missing and it updated, had the same issue... Unintalled the game and re installed. Still having the issue. On a side note my games now start with a shipyard which is new as well...

How do I add a file?
End of pek1999's quote

The usual method is to place it in a file sharing system like Dropbox and then paste a link in a reply.

I got your save and loaded it into GalCiv3 on my computer.  There was nothing wrong with the build queue.  It was where it is supposed to be.  I guess the problem isn't stored in the save.

The fix in the patch was specifically described as being for "Normal UI scale".  What UI settings are you using?

I also see that no more black holes?  Just antimatter sitting around?

"normal UI scale"?  I have a "gel ui" (unchecked), but nothing that says specifically "normal ui scale".

Pretty sure it's a graphics incompatibility, tried windowed/no-windowed, lower res, nothing changed the position.  I guess I'll try a new video driver (hate to mess with what has been working with all my other software), but my 1080 ti hasn't had any other issues with games and on this version (436.30)(current ver is  441.42, so it's been a while)GC3 has been behaving for quite a while.

Latest nvidia drivers, no change.  something got changed with the latest patch that doesn't like my pc, but I'm at a loss now.

Here's something that might work.  Go into Documents\My Games\GC3Crusade and find the file Prefs.ini.  Rename it to something else, like PrefsOFF.ini.

Start a new game and see if the problems still exits.

The game reads Prefs.ini when it starts.  If one doesn't exist it will create a new one with all the default values.  Sometimes some strange values get into Prefs.ini and doing this will eliminate them and the problems they cause.

Also, the UI Size is the option just above the Gel UI option you mentioned.  Make sure it is Normal.

well, damn, not sure how the ini got screwed up, renamed it, started up and the queue was back to where it belonged.  not sure I want to delve into the problem tonight, time for bed-ish.
