Tempted but I need to know one thing

This looks very interesting and I'm very tempted to jump in right now but I need to know one thing before I get my wallet out.

When I have created a game is there an option (in beta or even in final release) to compile my game into a windows exe file?

No offence but only being able to share my game with people who own this software is a total deal breaker for me, I would like to give out my game to friends so they can play on their laptop/PC.

There will not be compiled EXEs. However, they will be releasing a free "player" app for desktop and mobile OSes that people can download to play the game without owning the full thing.

Huh? A player app seems like a fine way to share your games. Just out of curiosity, what's wrong with that method?
