I've been having issues with updating my Start10 on my Windows 10 Pro laptop. I keep on getting an error message (Problem: Code 121) that stops the installation. I have tried the purge option, but it hasn't worked for me at all.

I'm attaching a picture of my issue in the hopes that someone in Support can help me out.

Thank you.

Additional info:  I tried once again to install Start10, and I got this message which then terminated the installation:

"Setup can not create the following folder:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Stardock\Start10\Round7"

Are you running BitDefender? If so, please try disabling before installing.

I don't have Bitdefender on my laptop, but I do have HitmanPro.

I'm going to disable it, then try to re-install Start10, and report back the results.

I disabled HitmanPro, but I'm still having

"Setup can not create the following folder:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Stardock\Start10\Round7"

I'm at my wit's end.

I've done the Purge batch file, tried what you've suggested, and I'm still stuck.

Sorry to hear about the continued frustration.  If you perform a clean boot of Win10, are you then able to install?

I tried that, no go at all.

I'm really stumped and frustrated.

And, with this being Memorial Day weekend, nobody will be able to check on this until Tuesday at the earliest.

Oh, well. I'll be patient while this gets sorted out.

Please try the following:

-For Win8/10 Users: Open the Start Screen, and type 'cmd'. Right-click on the search result and select 'Run as administrator' from below.

-Type: sfc /scannow

-Wait for the scan to complete (this can take several minutes)

Some help on how this looks should you need it:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929833/use-the-system-file-checker-tool-to-repair-missing-or-corrupted-system

If the SFC finds errors, but cannot fix them, please also run the following command in the same command prompt window:

dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Some help on how this looks should you need it:

https://www.windowscentral.com/how-use-dism-command-line-utility-repair-windows-10-image

The above command should assist with replacing any damaged or problematic system files. Please note, however, since it may require restoring certain files, this process can take some time and you will need to be patient until it has completed.

Please let me know whether this resolves your problem or if you have any additional questions.

Thank you,

I ran the program, and I got this result: no errors.

What can I do next?

Could you check if this Folder "C:\Users\Public\Documents\Stardock\Start10\Round7" is indeed in your C:\ drive?

I've just checked, and I don't have that folder.

That right there could be the cause of my problems.

Do you have any other Anti virus product installed? Not sure about HitmanPro.. but to me HitmanPro is more toward malware protect. You might have another Anti virus product installed. Can you try disable that one too?

Thank you,

I still can't seem  to install anything with Stardock at all.

I'll disable HitManPro, and I still can't install the software.

I'm going to ask is there anything else I can do to reinstall the software??

Dont just disable it, try uninstalling it, reboot, and try again.  Also, is HitManPro the only AV product you have installed?

Sorry for the delay, I took a break from this, I was getting frustrated with the issue.

I uninstalled HitManPro, and I can somewhat now run Start10, but it looks kind of weird to me, in that some of the settings seem out of order.

But, C:\Users\Public\Documents\Stardock\Start10\Round7" is indeed in my C: drive now.

Is there a way I can re-install HitManPro without causing issues with Start10 or the other Stardock software for my laptop??

Thanks for the quick reply.

I'll do it later this week and report on the results.

I tried to update to version 1.71, but I keep on getting "Problem: Code 123," and the installation is terminated.

I haven't re-installed HitManPro yet, so I'm kind of stumped here.

I got some weird errors when I downloaded 1.71, cancelling the whole process.

Klane,

What is this app?

If it is an AV product, please shut it down and try again.
