Start 10 1.7 Update....erased my Windows menu...grrrr

I just wrote an angry message, but decided to delete it lol...

I just installed 1.7 and.....my entire layout was deleted and reset.  Instead of having all my pins, shortcuts, tiles, etc., it was empty with only "Productivity" group group listed (containing tiles for MS products).

I tried to uninstall 1.7 and instead of reverting back to my layout (which was complex and meticulous), it still only had the "Productivity" group.

With or without Star Dock, is there any way to rescue my original configuration which will surely otherwise take hours to rebuild?

When you say Windows menu, do you mean the Start10 menu, or the Windows 10 start menu?

Start10 isn't capable of making any changes to the Windows 10 Start menu itself.

I don't see anywhere to download 1.7. I am only getting 1.61, which I already have. I did get the email, but again, no 1.7. You'd think they would announce it AFTER it was available and not before.

I also tried clicking on Update under Object Desktop Manager, but it says there are no updates available.

I started to click through the email but decided to install my original version first and then do an upgrade.

Honestly, though, since I use (and mostly like) the Win10 start up anyway, I don't see much of a benefit to running Start 10.  It doesn't seem to give any extra features.  I originally purchased long ago because the computer I was using had a quirk and I needed to run it like Win7.....but that was like 5 computers ago

Sorry I don't know the exact terms to explain....so I took screen shots to show.

I am afraid that doesn't look like something start10 caused.  It has no interactions with the pinned items in the windows menu.

The most likely explanation is the menu got impacted by a pending update which installed when you rebooted or the OS rebuilt your menu when a new folder in the startmenu was created during install (as every app would make on install)

I doubt there is an easy way to get that back other than repining those items again :(

You never need to install your first version first.  Using 1.0 in the latest Windows 10 would risk incompatibility issues.  A clean install is always best.

I am not sure why the manager is not seeing it and will get that checked.

You can also download via the store under your products list.

ODM sees it now. But when I click on 'Download', it does nothing. May be on my end. Will clean cache, reboot, etc..

Got it. I had to 'right-click' the download button and choose open link in new window.
