( Solved ) "No suitable decoder found" while having MPEG-2 decoder installed from Windows Store

I get the following error message when selecting a Deskscape dream using MPEG-2 video.

"No suitable decoder found

Unfortunately Microsoft decided to remove MPEG-2 decoders from Windows 8 and without purchasing the Microsoft decoder or a installing a third party decoder you cannot play this dream.

If you have done this and still get this message then the dream may be an unusual video resolution and it is not usable on Windows 8

Would you like to visit our website for more information?"

I did install the MPEG-2 video decoder through Windows Store (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/mpeg-2-video-extension/9n95q1zzpmh4) and I still get this message.

The dream I'm trying to apply to my desktop is this one : https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/dream/3262/

I'm using the latest Deskscape (version 8.51) on Windows 10 Pro build 1809.

Follow the link above I use the Mega Pack , that will get you the Mpeg-2 decoder you need .

Nice, installing K-Lite Codec Pack has solved my issue.

Thank you.

This works....

Followed this simple tutorial using K-Lite and all previously non-viewable dreamscape videos now work.
Had to re-apply this after a very recent Win10 reinstall April 17th 2020.

In essence, deselect everything but the Mpeg2 - ffdshow ( libmpeg2), untick all other options. Install and it works instantly no need for reboot on old or this current installation. Important... as just doing a full install of everything in K-lite did not work for me at all.

I had to uninstall after a fully loaded install of this as nothing had changed - even after a reboot. I then reinstalled with only the above ticked and it was plain sailing from there.

Hope that helps!
