Groupy seems to still be active even when excluded from Excel

I have Groupy set to exclude Excel (running Excel 2013 on Win 7 Enterprise). Even when excluded, it still renders the characteristic tabs in the upper left of the app - although the grouping part is seemingly disabled. However, only when I run Groupy, and with Excel excluded, if I open a file, it will not open - the Excel Window draws, the but the file will not open until I click the File tab, then it draws (opens) the file. Also, If I am working on one file and open another instance of Excel, the whole thing crashes and I lose everything.

Any ideas?
