Cannot Copy/Paste with Multiplicity 3.44 KVM Build 00090

I am suddenly finding that I cannot Copy/Paste between my Primary Windows 10 machine and one of my two Secondary machines. I am able to Drag/Drop files ok and the mouse works normally. Everything works normally between my Primary and my other Windows 10 Secondary.

My Primary PC is running Windows 10 1803 build 17134.376 and the Secondary PC having this issue is running Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 1809 build 18267.1001. Up to now I have had no issues with any MS updates to the Insider Preview builds when copying/pasting between PCs.

I have tried turning off Windows Defender Firewall on the secondary but this makes no difference. To repeat, the mouse control and Drag/Drop between the two PCs is fine. Only Copy/Paste won't work.

Can anyone please advise on troubleshooting?

Yes, thank you, I need assistance. As I already said I disabled Windows Firewall so that's not an issue. Drag and Drop works fine. Only Copy/Paste wont work.

New Information

Apologies for not seeing this earlier.

It turns out I can Copy/Paste from my Secondary to Primary but NOT from Primary to Secondary. I hope this narrows things down a bit. Since I most often Copy/Paste from Secondary to Primary, I am unable to say when this issue arose or whether it was caused by a previous MS update.

If you cannot copy from Primary to Secondary it is probably the firewall on the primary that is causing the problem as a connection is made back to the primary for clipboard information.

I have Windows Defender Firewall turned off on both Primary and Secondary PCs but the result is the same - everything works as it should EXCEPT Copy/Paste from S to P.

I have been able to see this issue on that insider preview of Windows (a test box).  You can copy paste text, and drag and drop files, but copy / paste from desktop to desktop has an audible ding but no error message.

It would appear that MS has some things to work out with that build.

I have the same problem in copy-paste from the primary to the secondary. Does anyone have success in solving this issue?

I don't know of a situation where it has not been solved for anyone that reported it.  It is almost always a Windows Firewall issue:

I already tried to turn off the firewall, both primary and secondary, but it still doesn't work to copy from primary to secondary. The other function is running well

While we cannot support insider builds (for clear reasons), what are you trying to copy \ paste? Are you using Ctrl + V or the right click context menu?  If the latter, does "Paste' show as a highlighted option or is it grayed out?

So, I have the same issue and I am NOT using the insider version of windows 11.

Windows Firewall is off, I have run the batchfile to fix the ports on both PCs.

I can copy from the secondary to the primary with no issues, but as soon as I try from primary to secondary it locks up whatever app I am pasting into.

Is that the case with text and files or just one or the other?

If the former, text, can you paste into Notepad (not the app you are referring to- whatever that is)?

If the latter, where are you pasting from and to (Desktop, WinExp, app) and how big is the file?

I suddenly cannot copy and paste from Primary to Secondary Computer.

Primary Computer has Windows 11, Secondary Computer has Windows 10.

I can copy and paste from Secondary to Primary, but not Primary to Secondary.  However, when I turn off Windows Firewall on Primary, I can then copy and paste from Primary to Secondary.  As soon as I turn the firewall back on, I can no longer copy from Primary to Secondary.

I tried to follow your previous instructions.  No luck.  I have installed your MPPortFix multiple times on both computers, but with no luck.  I tweaked the Firewall settings as you instructed.  No luck.  I give up.

Can you please tell me how to fix this problem??????  HELP!  It's driving me crazy!!!

Thank you very much!

We have in the documentation and with the batch file (that I wrote).

My last suggestion would be to disable any VPN connections you may be using and test then.

I know you are looking to us for answers here but MP is not what is at issue it seems, it's a PC \ firewall one.

The batch file on each PC should work to delete \ recreate rules.  If you have any other firewall \ AV app running, it would do nothing for them - it only works for the Windows native firewall.

Your Windows 11 machine is probably set to have your network as a public one not private/work.  Doing so will block the rules set.  If you set your network to private it should resolve the problem.

For copying from a primary to a secondary the secondary must connect to the primary and this requires the firewall to allow it.  If it does not then there will be a timeout on the copy operation which will pause the app requesting the data until it has hit the timeout.

PROBLEM SOLVED!  You were right.  Network settings were enabled for a public network on my primary, Windows 11 computer.  As soon as I changed the setting to private, I was able to copy and paste to my secondary, Windows 10 computer!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

All is well again!!
