Bug: Dual monitor problem

I've been having a problem with Groupy for a couple of months now. Groupy will at random times grab the in-focus program from my #1 monitor (primary monitor), and move it to my #2 monitor. I've done a regular uninstall/re-install of Groupy, and that worked for a couple of days. I then did a clean uninstall/re-install, and that fixed for a longer time, but it comes back.

I'm using ver. 1.17 on Windows 10 Pro with current updates. Both monitors are 1920x1080 resolution. #1 is in landscape and #2 is in portrait.

I'm now using v1.18 and no improvement. This bug makes the program unusable for me. For now, I am uninstalling Groupy and reinstalling another tab program for Office.

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Would like to know if the problem occurs with specific program in a group or any program? And do you apply any scaling 125%, 150% etc etc. on that two monitors?

Thanks

Hi Basj,

I use the default scaling (100%). There is no pattern of which program this happens with, other then it is the top most program on monitor #2. This program is moved to monitor #1, and resized to fit its height. Monitor #1 is in landscape and #2 is in portrait. Also only seems to happen when Groupy is active. E.g. I have two Word documents open and they are tabbed.

Need to clarify that the problem when it jump to the next monitor at random or when you switch groupy tab.

Let say, you have two tabs of MS Words in a group( MS Word1 and MS Word2). Where the groupy is on Monitor 1. While working on MS Word 1.

1)You press the tabs to switch to MS Words 2. And then it jump to Monitor 2?

or

2) It Jump to Monitor 2 at random while you working on MS Word 1.

Thank you,

I would have tabs Word 1 and word 2 open in portrait monitor #2 and they would not have the focus. I would be idle (not typing or moving the mouse) and a program from monitor #2 will be moved to monitor #1. I often will have Excel open with tabs on monitor #1 at the same time, and it would not have the focus either. Also, it will move programs from monitor #1 to monitor #2 as well. Suddenly Firefox--for example--will move from monitor #1 to monitor #2.

Come to think of it: I've only been using Groupy with Word and Excel so this might be some strange interaction with office. I'll reactivate Groupy, and see if I get this behavior using with another program.

Also, this behavior doesn't begin right away once I'm using tabs. It can be a couple of hours or a day once I start using tabs.

That is strange indeed. While not doing anything no input of keyboard and mouse? And Firefox, just move from Monitor 1 landscape full-screen to monitor 2 portrait mode full-screen? I have not read any report of this sort yet. You sure there is no problem with your keyboard. You know that "Windows+shift+left/right arrow" on the keyboard will move windows full screen to the next one.

I would suggest for you to try out the cleanboot step, this should iron out if other application is having a conflict with Groupy. https://forums.stardock.com/488142/groupy-support-faq#cleanboot

Try it and report back.

Thank you.

This is a known issue where the app that was combined with others is remembered (what state, maximized and on what monitor) and the current focused one is not always observed (where, and in what state, the focused app is - what perhaps should be observed instead for there the other, non focused apps, were when they were combined).

Again, it is logged internally.

Hi Sean. This is not what is occurring with me. Firefox, for example, has never been combined in a tab set, and is never opened or moved to monitor #2 by me. Groupy does this. The random moving of apps goes away when I disable Groupy.

End of guimandavid's quote

Then that is not something we have seen nor had reported prior.

I've taken a look at the bug:

1) I have Word open on monitor #2 with tabs.

2) I'm using a program on monitor #1 (Firefox or Xplorer(2), for example).

3) The active program on monitor #1 opens some activity that takes focus from the parent app to a child window (save file dialog, or a delete file dialog...).

4) The child window/process ends, and when focus returns to the parent app, it's moved to monitor #2.

This behavior doesn't happen every time, but enough to be pretty annoying :-).

If I close the app that is using tabs, then this behavior stops.

I am getting a somewhat (perhaps) related problem with multiple monitors and Windows 10 -- three monitors; and Outlook.exe 2010; with Outlook and Firefox grouped and displayed in the center monitor, in less than full screen, when I open an email by clicking on it, the entire group window shifts to partly on the monitor to the left.  I then have to pull it back, and reduce the size.
Happens every time I open an email; doesn't happen if Outlook isn't grouped with another application.

It's only when opening an email message, otherwise is fine.

Installed the latest version (1.3) and the problem is still there. After a couple of days, I woke up the computer (I put it in sleep mode each night), and most of the apps from monitor #1 were on monitor #2 and resized. I haven't used this app since version 1.0 because of this problem. I try each new release, but with each release the problem is not fixed.
