Can't copy file from Folder Portal onto the Desktop

All is in the title : right-click won't make "copy" option available when trying to copy a file from a Folder Portal onto the Desktop.

Are you guys planning any fix ? Is that complicated ? Thanks !!

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having issues. No problem to copy from Folder portal to my desktop. Unless you do not have admin permission to copy that file or folder. Where is the actual location of Folder pointed from the Folder portal?

Hi, thanks for your answer.

It is this way for any folder in any directory. It's a fresh new Windows 10 install and I noticed it even before. Right-Click drag&drop only offers "move here" and "create shortcut here".

The problem occurs only with the desktop, I can copy to anywhere else.

So it's only drag&drop, static right-click context menu "copy" entry is fine, sorry for the confusion in my 1st post.

Don't really know how that could make you understand better but here it is. Thanks.

Your mean you want to create another copy on the desktop, Instead just move out of the fence. From what I understand,The Portal Fence is already on the desktop so, it can't just copy into itself. It only can move out of that fence. This is different if you do it directly from the folder itself using Explorer. That one is making a copy from the folder into desktop.

Thank you,

End of basj's quote

This is actually not true. In Windows you CAN copy an icon from Desktop to Desktop (or, more generally, internally to any folder). Problem only occurs with copying from a Fence to another place on the Desktop (including another Fence), or from the Desktop to a Fence, or when trying internal copy inside a Fence.

But you are perfectly right in saying it does not occur when copying a file from a Fence to a folder in explorer (including Desktop folder), or from a folder to a Fence.

As a conclusion, Fences doesn't support internal copy.

I can not confirm or deny your statement. What I said,as a user myself, was just from my observation only.

Anyway, I have forwarded your problem to Stardock Support team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.

Hello,

Ctrl + C, Crtl + V does work, as well as right click, copy, right click copy paste.  That said, no, right click, hold / drag, from a portal do the desktop is not possible.
