WinOptimizer 15 and 16

License

 Hello,  I am needing to verify that I need to buy a whole new license for WinoOptimizer 16 even though i just purchased version 15 not even 2 months ago.  I just launched my WinOptimizer and it asked me if i wanted to download free trial of version 16.

 I must be confused or something because when the ads come up and you click on them, they take you to the site to purchase them.

Stardock, what is going on?

 

I just bought WinOptimizer 15 on your sale and the first thing that happens is I get a sales message within my brand new program, asking me to upgrade to WinOptimizer 16.

 

Is it going to update to the new version or did I just throw away $10 on an outdated program?

Hello,

WO 16 is selling for $19.99 through Ashampoo, so you definitely didn’t ‘waste’ $10.

We’re working on getting the new version. 15 has all the base features of 16, btw, and will continue to perform as advertised.

Thank you for your response. 

I understand that you may not know what is going to happen regarding WinOptimizer 16. But at the same time, you are selling a product, that gives no indication that it is an outdated version. 

That is not wrong per say, but I hope Stardock understands that when we buy a program from you, it leaves a pretty bad aftertaste when we start up our brand new program, and its first advertisement is for the new version of the same program.

Do we have an update yet?  I just got an email trying to sell me version 16 at a discount.  I shouldnt have to pay again when i just purchased 15.

Thank you, so anyone who just purchased WinOptimizer 15 now has to pay again for an upgrade?  Sure 75% discount is nice, but buying a piece of software (at this point a few months) and then shortly after being hit with notifications in the software to buy the next version is not good.  If I could get a refund I would but now its about 3 months.  This is not a good business practice at all.

As you know, WinOptimizer is not our product. Stardock is just a reseller for Ashampoo. Stardock has no control on how or when they put up a new version for their product. As for price charge on new version of a product, I understand your frustration, but looking at several big software company, this practice is a norm now.
