I have a question about this also , could you add a way to search thorough

the dreams in groups ( ie 10 or more at a time ) other than just 1 page at a time ?

I have mine set at 30 a page but still have 200 pages to get to the end ..

It also seems that " search " doesn't always work either when searching for some names.

Just a Question from me , the last view updates to Deskscapes were to

allow to work with  Windows updates .

Are there any plans to update the program with any new features ?

Something that might attract new dream makers back into the fold.

Dreams still seem to be the most downloaded item daily but the

dream makers have faded away .

Now that sites like youtube have tons of higher quality video maybe

it would be OK to bring back some dreams made from that site ( following the dream guide lines of course ).

The cost of video editing / video creating programs have gotten pretty pricey ,

so that tends to limit dream makers .

So just thing aloud here , that's all .

Hello,

Just asking if there is a way you could change so one could get through my

Dream Gallery faster than one page at a time ?

I have so many good dreams in my gallery now over a 100 pages now and you

have to go back one page at a time and most people won't do that .

If they could go back at least 10 pages at a time would be better.

Even I have to check to see if I did that dream before and it takes to much time

one page at a time .

Would be nice if that change could be made.

The Desk Scape Experience needs an update

July 28, 2018 9:37:02 AM from Stardock ForumsStardock Forums

Hi!

I just purchased this software, because i found it very interesting, but must say that i am abit dissapointed.

First of all my resolution (3440x1440) does not seem to work with any content. No matter what i do the background remains black. I disabled all background programs and im running an Nvidia card on the newest driver. The only program that remains running is Fences, but it is also from Stardock right?

In the future it would be nice if we could add videos and wallpapers with a simple drag and drop. Dont make it so complicated please.

Also it would be nice to have support for current day video formats being used on Youtube (mp4 h264). Really who does not use it nowadays?

Thanks for listening!

Bye.

Youtube video as background

November 19, 2016 6:10:24 PM from Stardock ForumsStardock Forums

I would like to use one of the many YouTube videos looping videos at a background, I have used an application to download 4K video loops from YouTube but they download as MP4 or MKV and it seems that DeskScapes 8 can only use .avi and a .wmv or a few others. I looked in to converting the file to those formats but they are really large files and seem to crash when converting. any suggestions folks?

Would be nice to get support for Youtube Videos aka MP4 H264.

On a personal note , I have reported that uploading Larger files is becoming harder

and sometimes larger files of 60 mb's won't upload at all.

Today I had to try to upload a dream file 43mb's 3 times before it uploaded about an hour in time.

So I don't know what happened to the upload system but it has slowed way way down when

trying to upload the larger files .

I think Deskscapes needs an overhauling to get updated to todays standards in video formats.

This is needed to keep quality in the dream video for today's higher resolutions and

multi-monitor systems in use larger monitor resolutions.

Few questions on usability

March 19, 2019 11:32:05 AM fromStardock ForumsStardock Forums

Been using this and playing around with it to fit my needs to play videos with sound.

However I cannot figure out how to setup a playlist or schedule for multiple videos.

Also cannot adjust volume.

What I do like is:

Setting up as screen saver is easy and can go fit to screen over 2 monitors.

Pause option in right mouse click on desktop.

Don't like:

Video preview cannot mute sound so while going over options it's constantly repeating.

Wish there was a volume adjustment and mute somewhere.

DeskScapes 10 Beta

Feedback and Suggestions

March 20, 2019 8:44:08 AM fromStardock ForumsStardock Forums

Not sure if this is the correct place to post feedback and suggestions If not, I can post elsewhere. First of all, I'm very impressed with DeskScapes 10 beta so far! Really slick UI, efficient layout, useful features, dark and light modes—even the typography is nice. The generous selection of local and online libraries (including smooth OneDrive cloud integration) makes DS10 a powerful tool for navigating and managing wallpaper collections. A great product right out the gate (or almost out the gate).

Wishlist/Suggestions:

  1.  Random Backgrounds:
    • Please add "Change every 12 hours" to the "Changing speed" dropdown list. I want to change between a favorite night and day wallpaper, so I added them to the random folder and checked "Sequentially change through the backgrounds". But there's no way to make it change on a 12-hour day/night schedule! The downside of this approach will be having to wait until sunrise or sunset to manually kick of the 12-hour timer which will gradually get out of sync with mother nature anyway. Still, a 12 hour timer would be a big leap forward.
    • An even better option (perhaps further down the road) would be the ability to sync background change with W10 Night Light, so the wallpaper changes whenever night light turns on/off.
    • Sync to change whenever W10 is switched between dark and light mode might be another way to accomplish the same day/night wallpaper change scenario.
    •  Very minor point: The name "Random Backgrounds" is technically a misnomer once you select the sequential option.
  2. High Resolution Support/Filtering based on Resolution:
    • The only way to determine resolution is by clicking on files one-at-a-time and reading their description.
    • Many online resources have multiple resolutions, but I didn't find any at 4K among the 10-15 I clicked on.
    • I have a local folder with only 4K wallpapers, but didn't see any online categories/folders designated as 4K.
    • The ability to globally filter wallpapers/videos by resolution would be the ultimate solution.
  3. Animated Wallpapers:
    • I tried one of the featured animated wallpapers, but the result wasn't very impressive on a 4K monitor in terms of sharpness of detail. Motion (fps) was also choppy even at the slowest speed.
    • Although we have the nice download and visit background webpage buttons, it's frustrating that additional links in the video desctiption (such as YouTube previews) aren't active hyperlinks or even copyable (maybe for security reasons?).

In any case, keep up the good work! Looking forward to future versions.

DS 10 Release Version - A Suggestion for a Future Release

May 23, 2019 9:07:37 AM fromStardock ForumsStardock Forums

Howdy,

I've been using DS for quite a few years.  I love version 10.80.0!

However, there has always been an idea that I've had while using it.  Would it be possible to add a means of moving the "Folders" within the current "Manage folders" up or down in the list.  As it is, the user must delete all folders below where they would like a different one to be, and then re-selecting the remaining folders, in the order that the user wants them to appear on the left side offline of DS "My folders" (this easy folder selection is a great addition in itself).

Being able to directly reorder folders would be a major time saver.

However, again, I really like all of the GREAT changes in this final version.

Thank You Stardock!

Add folders to random backgrounds

June 28, 2019 9:39:43 PM fromStardock ForumsStardock Forums

Is there any way to add folders to the list of random backgrounds? The only way that I've been able to find to add images to "Random backgrounds" is to add them individually, which would be incredibly time-consuming for more than a few images, let alone hundreds or thousands. Adding folders via "Manage folders" just seems to add more images that you can select individually as the current wallpaper or add individually to "Random backgrounds" by right-clicking on them and selecting "Add to random backgrounds" one by one. What I'd really like to do is just add a folder or set of folders to "Random Backgrounds" and have DeskScapes randomly go through those images as well as updating the list if more are added to the folders (or removed from them). Is there no way to get functionality like that with DeskScapes 10 right now?

I would like to add to this suggestion to have it monitor folders (and subfolders) for new items for random mode. It is a big pain to add a few new animations, and then wait for the UI to render all the thumbnails for ALL of your dreams before you can select everything and add it to the random backgrounds.

another question about coloring. in the near future, will there be a version of deskscapes with the color slider for videos too? if not more color effects that alter the hue, tint, etc. of the video and then be able to select the ones I want displayed on the effects screen and remove the unused ones, such as clone, double, and mirror.

Can I add Chinese language pack

November 4, 2019 7:39:53 PM from Stardock ForumsStardock Forums

Can you add Chinese simplified or traditional language packs to the software? Because some users are from mainland China, after all, many people don't understand English. I hope the developers can think about it。

Idea: Smart Audio Playing

AddThis Sharing Buttons
November 8, 2019 5:35:45 PM from Stardock ForumsStardock Forums

I had this idea for a while. Recently, I tried to find a way to do it myself but I couldn't (I'd be happy to hear if anybody has one). The idea is for DeskScapes to play audio, but only in the absence of any other audio stream. Then I thought it may actually worth to share, and be interesting enough for the developers to work on. It would be even better if it automatically detects warning sounds and short audios and ignores them, technically it only needs to mute the dreamscene audio for certain programs when users want to play music and videos but it could also work the other way around, meaning it can be designed to always mute the audio when something is playing except for certain occasions defined as warning sounds in order to be functional with other possible streams like messengers and web browsers.

feature request for Deskscapes, if you please!

March 14, 2020 12:00:38 PM from Stardock ForumsStardock Forums

Hi, I love making my own Dreams files. I don't use any downloaded ones, just my own.

I made about thrty of my own Dreams.

Problem is, some are 3 seconds long, and some are 3 minutes long...

i want them to never loop, and always randomly shuffle after 1 play.

Can you adjust the random backgrounds so that it allows truly random non-sequential shuffle, and without looping dreams?

Currently I can nly put it to 30 seconds or 1 minute... it cuts my long dreams off before they finish, and it loops my shorter dreams wayyyyy too much to the point where it gets boring to watch...

please please please I need this feature...thanks for your time

Span Multi-Monitors

April 15, 2020 10:02:34 PM from Stardock ForumsStardock Forums

I have used Stardock's excellent Windows 10 menu replacement, Start10, pretty much since I first installed Windows 10 and it has been perfect for my requirements, so did not hesitate when I saw Deskscapes and purchased it without running the Trial version first.

Like Start10, it does what it says on the can... very nicely... but...

I run a two-monitor setup, with the desktop, including background, spanned across the pair and would really liked to have seen this as a feature of Deskscapes, which it does not seem to be at the moment.

I understand there might be "issues" with getting it to run in this manner but I am sure the noggins at Stardock can work it out but, until then, I think Deskscapes will be consigned to my "Uninstalled Software" folder, which is a shame.

A possible USP!

June 5, 2020 8:00:30 PM from Stardock ForumsStardock Forums

Hey,

I already contacted the developers from YoWindow if they could make it possible to set their animation as Live Wallpaper --> No and they will not work on it...

I was wondering, if they cannot make it happen why shouldn't Stardock as experts?

There are alot of other people who implore this feature and inquired it in the past. In my mind it is an absolute USP if Stardock DeskScapes can support App Windows like YoWindow as Live Wallpaper.

I hope this reaches the management/development team.

Suggestion: Virtual Desktop Wallpaper

I mean like this. It is a dream that is only snow. This is DS8 with Winter Snow. "Adjust" changes to "Settings" when you select the dream, and the settings popup which allow you to select a background. Like here:

If you could make one with fog and rainfall that allows you to choose a picture I would buy on release.

Video backgrounds continue after changing?

AddThis Sharing Buttons
January 14, 2021 2:00:00 PM from Stardock ForumsStardock Forums

Hi I just got DeskScape and think the idea is really cool, I was wondering however if it was possible to make it so a video background could pause after changing into a new video or new picture.

Like say I have my backgrounds set to change every 30 seconds. I choose to have a 5 minute video as my background. After the 30 seconds it shifts to either a different video or a still image and then back to the original 5 minute. Now normally, or at least with what I've seen so far, after the video background changes it restarts the video. I'd like it to pause the video from where it last stopped and continue on from that point until the next time it changes.
