I have used the **pre-beta** and loved it.

The official version of the Messenger 6 Preview is now freely available from the Microsoft site: http://messenger.msn.com/download/v6preview.asp
This is not a "leaked" version, but is a public beta.

Just a cautionary note about "leaked" versions. When a software company doesn't release a version even as a beta, it is usually because they feel it isn't ready yet. Sometimes, a little patience is a good thing.

Here's another link that includes '98, ME,2000 & Xp versions...http://messenger.msn.com/download/v6preview.asp
My brother & I have been using it for about a month now & we both love it. Since we live 6,000 miles from each other it's great to video conference for free.
Looks like koop was giving out the same info at the same time. I guess I need to learn to type faster.

Why bother with MSN Messenger? Just use Trillian

Just had to throw that in

Trillian is nice, but last I knew it didn't do voice, nor cam!

the IM wars are coming soon.

get your emotion icons ready.

MSN messenger sound great especially the part about making your own background and emotion icons.

It would seem like Microsoft is getting the hint from Yahoo and AOL. Make it beautiful and they will come. (and eventually there will find a way to make a profit off of all the users... just give them time )
