Some widows aren't shown.

Hi,

Windows made by another user's process are not shown.

Reproduction procedure.

Run "runas /user:user\password taskmgr" on cmd.exe.
Taskmgr's windows isn't shown.
If you set "always on top", Taskmgr window appears.

I sometimes run processes as another user and windows of them aren't shown.

Please let me know alternatives to avoid this problem or how to fix this.

Thanks in advance.

I've been trying to reproduce this and not having much luck with taskmgr. I've created a new standard/limited user and switched to that account. Started cmd.exe, then 'runas /user:user taskmgr' and enter a password when prompted. From regular and admin cmd prompts, I get an error that the requested operation requires elevation.

A similar command with notepad or mspaint work properly and show the windows. Any ideas what's different between your test and mine? Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 RS4.

Hi,

Thanks for trying to reproduce the problem.

I don't have a administrator privilege and I run taskmgr by another user having an administrator privilege .

In my case,

1. I logon to Win10.
2. I start some applications. All windows are shown.
3. I run cmd.exe.
4. I run "runas /user:administrator cmd.exe". This cmd.exe has an administrator privilege.
5. I run taskmgr on the second cmd.exe which is run by administrator.

Taskmanger window doesn't be shown.
Note that "always on top" property of taskmanger should not be set to reproduce the problem.

Thanks,

Still can't repro. Tried on RS4 and 8.1. Is this x64 or x86?

I installed RS4, but the problem was reproduced.

I may have found a difference between you and me.If the Windows Explorer window does not exist, the taskmgr window is displayed. However, if there is a Windows Explorer window, the taskmgr window will not be displayed.

Can you reproduce?

My previous e-mail had one mistake. I tested on RS3(build 1709). I cannot install RS4 by a company rule, but I suppose my test is effective on RS4.

On my Windos10/RS3, the taskmgr window will not be displayed when Windows Explorer window already exists.

Can you reproduce this on your RS4?

Is this solved yet? For work, I rather often start DHCP, DNS & AD Users as a different user (right-click) to run them as a domain admin and then I won't see them. The window is there (as I see it in the taskbar) but no way can I show the actual window. Turning off Groupy and it works (even after turning on Groupy again).
