Desktop Layout and Microsoft remote desktop

My work computer (Win 7 Pro) running latest Fences has 2 monitors. I frequently access it from home using remote desktop. My home computer (Win 10 PRO) also has Fences (probably not relevant) and a single monitor. On the home computer the various fences from the 2 monitors all pile on top of each other on the single monitor. When I get back to work, they are still all on the one monitor but I normally can restore a snapshot but today, they seem to try to get over to the second monitor but then jump back. My 2 work monitors are standard size and the one at home is wide screen. Are there any settings to first make the screen adjust for the single monitor and second restore the setting when I log in at work?

Have heard no reply. How about an Icon or link to restore a specific layout instead of actually opening Fences and selecting to layout to restore or to restore a layout on login

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

RDP affects how Aero work on a PC when an outside PC is connected (degrades or shuts it down entirely). You can set RDP to have a maximum number of monitors with the settings in the link below which affects if Aero or Desktop composition will enable:

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd834779(v=ws.11).aspx

(Desktop composition or Aero Glass will not be enabled at the remote desktop client if the client is using multiple monitors. Desktop composition is only enabled if the remote desktop client is using a single monitor.)

Short of that resolving the issue, try experimenting with these options:

Or restoring a snapshot when you return to the PC:

You also want this checked in Fences:

That said, 'named' (your created ones, not auto) snapshots are the best way to get a configuration back to the way it was with that option enabled.
