LogonStudio

Hello. I wonder whether any kind person on this board might feel able to advise me about a problem I'm having loading logons with the .logonxp extension in LogonStudio, please? I'm afraid I don't get involved in newsgroups, and I've had no reply from the relevant Stardock help e-mail address. The problem is that I've downloaded several logons with that file extension, but they won't load in LogonStudio, or even preview. When I click on Load and select the file I want, nothing happens. I'm running LogonStudio v.1.0.64. Many thanks.

have you tried just double clicking on the .logonxp file? That should work. If not let me know.

Thanks for responding. No, all that happens when I double click on the file is that LogonStudio is launched; the name of the file is shown in the settings window, but nothing in the preview window.

ok the only other thing I can think of atm is that there is a .logonxp file inside the .logonxp file. Change the extension to .zip, unzip it and look inside. If there is a .logonxp file in there, just drag it out and then double click on it.

No, there is no such file there. Ah well! Looks like I can't get the benefit of these good new logons.

hmmm well one more thing, sorry if it's a *DUH!* question, but I have to ask Are you running WinXP? It's the only OS logonstudio will work with.

Yes, I am running Windows XP. Everything else works fine on my system, so I've got a feeling there's some glitch with LogonStudio. A couple of times it has `encountered a problem' and had to close while I was trying to load a logon file.

maybe you could try setting the default logon screen back to XP, uninstall logon studio and reinstall?

I've figured out a way round the problem. I renamed each .logonxp file as a .zip file, then unzipped its contents into an ordinary folder. LogonStudio now recognises these folders as available logons and loads them without any problem (so far, that is). Thanks very much for taking the time and trouble to help me with this.

np, but now I am very curious What are the contents of the ordinary folder? Bitmaps and such?
