So Fences just broke somehow

Moved a file that was in a fence to another location outside of the fence (on another drive) and suddenly Fences along with all the items in them totally vanished, along with the fences themselves (ie blank desktop). Pulled up the Fences config panel, and when I disable Fences my files/icons all come back (obviously with no Fences around them), and enabling Fences causes them to all vanish again (no icons, no fences). Looking at the contents of my desktop show all the items that are there, so they still exist, just seems Fences has decided to hide them and itself for some random reason. Anyone know what the hell is going on here? I use Windows 10, and Fences was listed as okay to run with Windows 10.

Hello,

The fences does not disappeared it just move to another desktop pages. That why when you disable fences all the icons reappear. You can disable desktop pages if you go to the setting -> Desktop Pages -> un-tick the enable box to disable it and see if all the fences reappeared on your main desktop. Else you can learn how to navigate to different desktop with your mouse or keyboard.

Yeah that worked. Why did they spontaneously move to this "other desktop page"? I had no idea I even had another "desktop page" let alone Fences could wander over to it. Please explain what that's all about and why Fences just randomly moved to this other page thingy when I dropped a file into another place?

Not random, for me, if you click and drag the fences or even an icon across to left or right side of your desktop, with the desktop pages turn on, it will assume you are trying to move it to the next desktop page.

I didn't drag an icon over to either the left or the right side of my desktop...I opened a folder and dropped a file into that folder...then Fences vanished as above. The folder was in the middle of my desktop. As was my mouse.

I am not sure why it happened on your PC. So far, as far as I know, there is no report from others regarding this issue.

BTW you did mentioned you moved a file from a fence to another location. So how you move it. Drag and drop? Right?

Yes. The folder was in middle of my desktop, the file was inside a fence. I dragged the file from the fence to the folder in middle of desktop. At no time did I go anywhere near any edge of my screen.

I'm just going to leave that setting OFF so I can carry on my merry way without it happening again. If I'm feeling especially adventurous I might try to troubleshoot for you...no promises though :3 btw I have another question thread open if you feel like bringing your awesome help over to it ---> https://forums.stardock.com/487671/questions-about-win10-defender-controlled-folders-vs-icon-packager-skins
