Missing Window Media Player codec

When trying to load an animated desktop I get this message - Cannot install the sonic one player decoder pack.   subsequent windows will not go away and I have to reboot.  Cannot get any animation in anything that I downloaded.  Please tell me what to do to make this work..  I just moved from widows 8.1 where it worked to Windows 10 Creators update.  Have downloaded and installed the latest Deskscape available.

I CANNOT EVEN REPLY TO YOUR POST BELOW.  IT WILL NOT ACCEPT TEXT AND IT TRIES TO MAKE ME TWEET.  IT SHOULD NOT BE HARD TO POST IN A FORUM.  I HOPE THAT YOU WILL SEE THIS.

It is working now after I edited my post above.  I followed your link.  I downloaded the installedcodec program and ran it.  I got a list of the codecs but none of them were Roxio Sonic Cine Player Decoder Pack.   Searched this with Google.  Found several site to download them from.  Most seamed a little fishy to me.  One tried to get me to enter my credit card number.   I would be appreciative if you could send me a link or url to a safe site where I can safely install this.

I appreciate you replying to my post and trying to help me.   So far deskscape will not do animations.

Thanks again for your help

When running Deskscapes load the K-Lite full codec pack Link: https://www.codecguide.com/download_k-lite_codec_pack_full.htm

This should fix your problem

I have created over 2500 dreams , load the codec pack then try one of my dreams Link:  http://azdude.wincustomize.com/skins.aspx?libid=50

report back

If it wants you to Tweet just reload the page worked for me

Thanks Dude,   I tried your suggestion and loaded and executed the full pack.  Tried Deskscape and same missing codec problem.  The k-lite Full pack also downloaded a cleaner program and a driver program.   Uninstalled both of these completely with Revo uninstaller.  On the website that popped up wanted me to pay $19.97 for something.  If you have another suggestion I certainly would be appreciative.  I always thought that this was a strange name for a missing codec.  Why would Stardock write something that would require a Roxio codec.

I would try this next .. run Virus protection make sure your PC is clean.

Download the purge/uninstall deskscapes ( run as administrator ) then reboot Link: http://sd.stardock.com/zubaz/apps/Purge_deskscapes.bat

*example image at bottom

Install the K-Lite " Mega " pack

Link: https://www.codecguide.com/download_k-lite_codec_pack_mega.htm

make NO changes to K-Lite the basic install is fine  ( Don't uninstall anything ) reboot

Now download the latest version of Deskscapes ( in case you have an older version )

and reinstall ( turn off Virus protection first )

Reboot ... then open Deskscapes program and click on one of the pre loaded dreams.

Report back with results

Dude,   I did exactly what you said above.   I have the exact same problem except the purge deleted most of my two dozen animated screens.   The ones that are still there do not work as they did before -they are worse.  That k-lite deleted a lot of codexes that were already on my computer.  Now the second that Deskscapes loads the requester demanding  Roxio Sonic Cine Player Decoder Packz\ appears and I can do nothing with the program except go to Task manager and stop the program. What do I do now?   I appreciate your help and some more suggestions.

It appears that you may have a malicious Malware attack on your PC.

I do not think so.  This is the only problem that I have.  Have Norton and others.  Full scan often.

I am afraid we cannot help with issues related to 'Sonic One Player Decoder Pack' or any related issues with an upgrade from Win 8 to Win 10.

If it is at all feasible, and if you are having other upgrade related issues, a fresh install of Win10 may be advisable.

If you could do one more post.  Am I the only one with this problem or are their others?  Thank you.

I have not run into anyone else having this problem.

I do 100's of dreams Windows 10 Windows Media Player

all work fine for me as you can see from all my uploads .

Sometimes a Fresh Windows install is needed .

Then you can test that your problem now works right

before you start adding a lot of other things .
