May i use Fences 3.0's product key to activate Fences 2.0?

It seems that only can buy Fences 3.0 on the Stardock website.

However, only Fences 2.0 can run my PC successfully.

Fences 3.0 does not work on my PC after I installed and uninstalled and rebooted again and again.

And i am tired to debug this problem.

So may i use Fences 3.0 product key to activate my Fences 2.0?

I am very satisfied with my Fences 2.0 currently.

Hi Island Dog,

I had read the Q&A you posted. But it did not help for my situation.

I just want to continue using Fences 2.0, not upgrade to Fences 3.0.

Because my PC cannot run Fences 3.0. don't know why!?

I am afraid that Fences 2 is no longer sold.

But I think they can open the permission of using Fences 3.0 product key to unlock Fences 2.0.

And the problem just can be solved.

Really?

Think about it. how many times have you read on the forums to download and save the programs you paid for and save the serial-key and you can use them forever.

I never plan on using it but do have version 2.1 of Fences. Have always been a member so if I were to ever install it I would expect my serial # to accept it.

Just saying. Not looking to start any problems.

Stardock's policy is to [only] provide access generally to the current/newest release of a software as that keeps everyone on the 'same page' re bug solving/resolution.

It is essentially the same process as Microsoft not providing formal access to superseded OS versions such as Win98 etc, though naturally there are past customers [of Win98] who still have a copy and thus the capacity to install it still.  Of course it too will not be supported by MS, just as a superseded Stardock program will not.

On occasion, Support has provided individuals with links to older software, but it is rare and undesirable...;)

You missed the trick.   The OP was talking about Ver. 3's key apply to Ver. 2 which as Jafo said is "rare and undesirable" in nicer words to say it.

Maybe I did. I totally understand Jafo's point. What I was saying is I started with version 2 and still have the same key now as I had then and would expect it to. Let me change this wording. Expect it to apply to ver 2. Of course I wouldn't expect it to work on todays versions but would still expect it to be accepted.

Never mind maybe I am missing something. Getting to damn old my brain farts up to often.
