it is loud and you want to talk to her. When you get out back

there is no one there and she takes her shirt off with nothing

Once in side she comes over and pulls your pants down and

talking to you. You say no and walk to your car and try to escape.

As you wait to pull into traffic she followed you on foot though

a parking lot and is standing behind your car smoking a cigarette.

If you don't believe this you are in denial and should see a psychiatrist.

There is a culture of inappropriate sexual behaviour in the TV and movie industries across the world, among other places.  Powerful figures use their positions to treat newcomers and those below them disgracefully, and it has gone on for far too long because there has been in place a code of silence among colleagues.... and threats to those who were harmed by this nasty culture.

Several Australian TV stars have been called out just recently, possibly in response to the Weinstein thing, but it has been going on for the last 50 years or more because of the code of silence and the threats to young, impressionable up-and-comers.  Nobody was game or willing to talk openly about it.... hence it continues.

Hopefully these exposes will help bring an end to it all and see the perps doing some time in prison

Yes, every one of those is inappropriate behavior. All of them.

Of course they do, and no they won't.

Our society is being arrogant (people act as if they themselves would/could do no wrong) and hypocritical (everyone knows how the system works but they pretend to be shocked and surprised).  Wrong or right, this games between men and women are nothing new: men use power to get sex, women use sex to get power.

It has *always* been like this.

If you think about it, BOTH behaviors are equally wrong (although that is how the world turns): it takes two to tango, and without women willing to play the game, there would be no game to play. For every woman that said no, there were many more who willingly exchanged sex for a shot at stardom - and in doing so they made sure the system perpetuated itself and other women would have to face the same choice. These women are as guilty as the men that seduced them with promises, yet they are seen as victims and the men as predators. I say they are BOTH equally guilty, both predators but with different motivations: men wanted sex, women wanted fame. Both were wiling to sacrifice their integrity to get something they wanted, and both made a conscious choice to do so.

I'm not defending these behaviors, I'm just saying you cannot (should not) condemn one without condemning the other. You cannot say yes, then change your mind *after the fact* and accuse the other person of rape. That is NOT how it works, you have to be accountable for your own (bad) choices.

Beyond the sex thing, I'd say killing people in churches, schools and randomly by the dozens falls into "innaproprate" behaviour as well.

Of course they do, and it is no more right than men in positions of power using women for sex.

As for going to prison, probably not, but in my opinion, anyone who uses a position of power, etc, to get what essentially is non-consensual sex, is a predator and a rapist, and therefore, male or female, should do time in prison.  Let there be no distinction, both male AND female offenders should do time.

Yes AND NO, JC, not all cases are cut and dry.  I knew of a young woman whose friends encouraged her to be interviewed by a TV producer for a position on a [I shall not name] network's journalism team, and what happened to her was horrendous.  She was a Christian girl, a virgin [waiting until marriage] and somewhat a shrinking violet, and as much as she resisted his advances and promises of fame, she was no match and the man took advantage because he was bigger and stronger. 

The eventual outcome was him serving 15 years for rape and aggravated assault, but that will never restore her dignity or trust.  Last I heard she was working as a journalist on a different network, so she has been able to move on career-wise, but she never should have been subjected to that kind of thing to begin with.

Now this is extremely inappropriate behaviour and it horrifies me beyond explanation.  So without going into a gun control debate, we don't need that again, some members of society should never have firearms, particularly those with unstable mental health issues and persons with a history of violence.... including domestic violence.  A recent study showed that persons with a past of domestic violence were more likely to go on shooting sprees than other criminal types.

Sadly, there are no simple fixes to any of these problems, but maybe broad-based education programs would help in decreasing these crimes.

Thing is, some of the women who are complaining about Weinstein and other powerful TV/movies moguls were very much in similar situations, where no for an answer was unacceptable.  I have no doubt there are a number of vixens who audition with views of offering themselves for parts.... and frankly, they have NO complaints because they asked for what they got.  Sadly, however, it is these women who aid to perpetuate the culture that can often capture quite innocent women whose intentions are purely to find work in the entertainment industries.... without having to give of themselves in ways they'd rather not.

Sadly, there are too many powerful people only too willing to take advantage of those they see as far below them .... and here in Australia we have several parliament buildings full of them types.

Sorry but I don't agree. No is and was always the answer. Reply 8 said it all.  Problem is now in this day and age "NO" isn't used much. Problem is children now don't even know the word. Just go to some stores. Kid cries, wines, screams, makes a fuss they get what they want. Doesn't matter if it's a toy or grocery store. I never had any of the problems of today. Never hit my children either but they sure as hell knew what NO meant.

These women coming out of the woodwork after 20 and 30 years and without any proof except for hear say. The men are wimps giving in . The news blows it all up and these people in today World believe it all. Bottom line is what was NOT a problem 25 years ago all of a sudden is and is now a Freaking joke.

I don't think that at all. Some however could have.

I just think it was the time you know 20 or 30 years ago. The Women didn't really think much about a pat on the butt one way or another. I'm sure if things were bad enough they would have reported it right away. Still can't think it's now just about the money and attention. After all a lot of news outlets and TV people will pay good money for this information. 

I have yet to see any of the men have a court date. (except for Cosby but there was evidence there) It is what it is. Doesn't change the fact this world is going to shit with all these  Political correct people or so they think they are but most know nothing.

If something inappropriate happens at work that you can't live with,

is this your only course of action?

You report it to a higher up than the person who did it.

If nothing is done and it happens again,

Then your only choice is to find another job and fill out a police report

so there is a paper trail.

If you don't do this then aren't you to blame for any future abuse to yourself or others

and should be on trial with the perpetrator when something bad happens to someone else?

If this abuse was not reported at the time it happened as described above then

the person who didn't report it must have had something to gain by staying silent.

The abuser doesn't own the whole world so there must be some where to create a paper trail.

@ Iben.  If only it were that cut and dry!   It's very common for victims to be bullied into silence, and even though they want to report it to a higher authority or the police, they feel so intimidated that their silence is assured.  Now I'm not saying these women are weak, but it's usually only the really strong ones who say "fuck the consequences I'm having your balls'.

I commend anyone who stands up for themselves in such adversity because there was a time when I was too fearful to do it for myself and other colleagues.  We were never sexually abused, etc, but we copped shit from our employer until each of us began to leave for better employment.  The former employer ended up going broke because local employment agencies refused to send job applicants there.

I agree on one point. Much of what has been reported is old, years old and difficult if not impossible to prove. Hearsay is what most of it is based on. This is where the difficulty lies, actions committed so long ago without proof to back it up. I applaud those who came forward but you have to keep in mind why they stayed silent for so long. Threats of job loss etc. is powerful motivation. This particular mindset lies solely with a generation that grew up with it. Fortunately (hopefully) the up and coming one will exercise some common sense and learn what the word respect means.
