Wallpaper Moderators?

I was just curious if someone new is moderating the Wallpaper submissions.

I should probably just keep my mouth shut but I just can't any longer, now please don't anyone get defensive and pounce on me but all one has to do is look at the first few pages of submissions to realize that the quality of walls(with the exception of a few) is seriously going down hill. How is some of this stuff getting through moderation?

I don't claim to be an artist or anything, in fact I am pure amateur, but some of those...mmmm....I just don't get it.

I think there are many of you that would agree with me on this, the number of downloads on some of them speak loud and clear as to what most wincustomizer's are thinking.

Please don't be angry at me guys, this is just an observation over the last week or so, which has made me think there is new blood moderating the walls.

Care to name a few Zodiaq? I dunno...In my opinion, there have always been lame additions to the wallpaper library...but then again, there always will be...

What if I view the full screen preview then right click and chose Set as Background... I don't believe that would count as a download.

the number of downloads on some of them speak loud and clear as to what most wincustomizer's are thinking.

I would have to agree wit you Zodiaq I for one don't claim to be a great wallpaper maker but I do have a sense that the quality of the images as of late are lacking. I only say that because when I see the images that were made in Bryce and "only Bryce" since I do not use any other 3d render program, I see very minimal quality in the work. I guess because I exam the image to see how it was made.

The last several have been one sphere with a metallic texture or a tileed texture, or a torus with the same. I will not say any names but the artists who know who they are, are using a mat which they did not make and have not given the rightful creator credit. Petty maybe, but for me the originality is not there and it simply looks like anything makes it now I prefer quality over quantity.

I guess its all personal opinion...I think a lot of the abstract creations and terragen images (Along with my own) are really cool...but I dont feel the same about most of those photoshop walls... And of course, there will be many people who disagree with me...but thats what they like.

Well, it defintely isn't the program that makes the wall it's the artists and I can easily say that all your images are awesome...hands down for sure....oh, this was directed to Event Horizon

Whew!!! I'm glad I wasn't alone on this, that's why I was wondering about someone new moderating the submissions.

As for you Sir Green Armani...I have looked at your RB Deluxe sitting on my desktop over and over again and I always say the same thing to myself, "Holy crap this is gooood" The color, the clarity, originality...mmm...mmm...good I just plain love it, we need more like it

Well, thanks Zodiaq I actually have thought long and hard and I'm gonna be limiting my uploads to WC. I just have lost a lot of drive to post here. No I'm not getting moderated everytime, I just don't have the urge to post here since the messageboard went to crap and my little brother could post an image and have it make it Of course this is all MHO and not directed towards anybody in particular. I just hope things get back to what made me love this place.....because I was very loyal and would still be if WC improves.

Sorry Event Horizon I overlooked your post, of course your walls are not what I was refering to, you've got some quality stuff.

I would rather not mention names, I think we know who they are.

Green Armani pretty much summed it up, looks like some people spend 5 minutes creating in Bryce, 10 minutes to render and Voila!!! Look ma...I made a Wallpaper.

Then to top it off, it's being accepted at wincustomize...lol...one of the alleged most difficult places to get a wallpaper posted...go figure.

Perhaps sometimes it's just a case of the 'less bad' getting in, rather than the 'good'.

When you can go through a dozen or 2 more walls and delete/reject them all, accepting none, you perhaps think "well, this is the best of an 'average' bunch in the current uploads, so OK"....

Perhaps we could revisit all the uploaded and approved walls and re-evaluate them.

That was done a very long time ago at the dawn of the 'moderation' process, when there were about 700 walls...now there are 3187 walls.

Culling them with the gift of hindsight may put several people's noses out of joint, particularly those whose submissions bypass moderation, yet are sometimes below 'par'.

Just make sure in your own minds that this current concern relating to a 'lowering of standard' is not fuelled by resentment that you have had works rejected that you consider to be superior to these recent ones.

[the 'you' and 'your' is in general terms and in no way is specific to anyone]..

Bugger...this html thingie strips page formatting/paragraphs etc....>

I assure you Jafo...It is not fueled by resentment. You know better than that;) I know you can see with your own eyes.

Personally I have only submitted one Wallpaper and it was accepted.

I like the skinning though, haven't had a skin rejected either but I don't think they are moderated at all (I think).

Maybe I'll try a couple walls again...they just take me so damn long.

Yeah, I'm not trying to sound like I've got resentment cuz I think Jafo could look at how many of my last 10 images....how many I actually submitted, which is probably like 12 or 15 not sure. I think I get a good percentage up, but I just feel the quality is down. If the moderators feel rushed I don't know what could be done about that...if that's the case.

Skins are moderated Zodiaq, but not for quality.

The wallpaper section is full of stuff I would not have let in, but that's why we are a team, no one opinion among us counts more than any other.

Yeah, I think you admins should moderate skins too! and for quality I mean. As an example I personaly think the quality of cursor xp is rather low these days....

If you don't like the Walls then don't download them. simple as that.

What is quality I ask. We all have different standards. Do you want popular walls that will get x many downloads? Is that quality? It's a never ending debate. When I started to visit WC bryce was less accepted as now. I am a dumbo when it comes to paintproggies, but I can spot those who are made in bryce here. Also sometimes a wall made in 10 minutes can be better than one worked on for weeks. There is really no standard. The only thing you may wonder about is, if moderators HAVE to choose from the less good that are submitted. And the ones that have the ability to upload immediately you can rate low to give a hint.

Moderators know what they are doing and have done it for a while and i don't doubt they know the difference between quality and rubbish.

If they accepted a wall then they did for a reason, they do very well in sifting through the piles they get and i don't think questioning their judgement is making anything easier for them.

Give them a break.

have a brake, have a kitkat, you're dutch lecrayon?
lecrayon = le crayon = france for pen (not pen actually, but such a thing you write a bord with, don't know the english for it, sorry...)
