Explorer.exe crashing when hitting Win + D

Explorer.exe crashing when hitting Win + D

Hi,

I have upgraded my Fences 2.0 to 3.0 to work with Windows 10 my I am having a glitch.

Whenever I hit "Win + D" to show the Desktop the service explorer.exe seems to crash and restart:

  1. Taskbar freezes;
  2. Black screen comes up
  3. Desktop shows again but empty
  4. Taskbar comes back empty
  5. Desktop icons come back
  6. Taskbar icons come back
  7. Fences come back

I uninstalled Fences to try "Win + D" again and no errors appear, so clearly Fences is interfering and causing this issue. Could you please analyze?

I have the same problem and I think you are getting closer to the cause.

It works fine on my personal laptop but does not on my company laptop in which FORCEPOINT is embeded.

Additionally, I found it has something to do with the desktop background. It's picture mode. With Fences enabled, I can't even change it to solid color. When I try to change, Explorer.exe crashes and background stays picture mode. With Fences disabled, I can change background at will. FYI, my company IT policy restricts background change. Even if I changed it, it will go back to picture mode after restart. So I guess the issue may lie on  the tangled relationship among FORCEPOINT, background and Fences.

Really hope you can pinpoint and fix it ASAP. Thx

As it seems no solution for this problem in Fences 3.0+, I would like to get a serial key for version 2 - which here noted it doesnt have the problem.

I have a version 3 serial and would like to change it to 2 please.

How do I do it ?

OK, forget the above post

VERSION 2 ALSO CRASHES when hitting ctrl+d or pressing the 'show desktop' button.

I'm out of this software for good.

How do I issue a refund ?

Another user on a corporate laptop with this issue. I can't find Forcepoint or Websence on my computer, but it's likely there's some other corporate malware security on my device.

When pressing the Win-D shortcut with fences enabled the whole system freezes up for a while (around 5 seconds) with the desktop wallpaper showing and no icons or fences, the screen then goes black briefly and the desktop reloads with the taskbar icons coming back one by one and the icons and fences rendering.

Tried solid background, removing Fences Portal, etc. but did not fix the issue.
