[2.6] Bug: Movement Error

Latest Crusade opt-in

When a 2-movement Colony Ship is near a black hole, the routing algorithm will send it backwards one tile, then forwards one tile essentially forfeiting the turn. To overcome this, the movements must done manually until you get around the black hole. Very strange.

I haven't noticed this with other ships with more than two movement points.

I like it the way it is.  You quickly learn not to screw around near black holes.

I noticed this to. It was this way in two. If you use the cursor keys is more efficient than the mouse.

hmmm...ok I'll have an engineer look into it.  Do you have a save game?

Sorry, pshaw, no save game.

I get the impression the routing algorithm is testing for the best path after each move. In this case, it seems to pick a direction then "changes its mind", so to speak, and ends up going back to the original tile.

One other thing-- in recent game incarnations, the proposed on-screen path can no longer be trusted. None of the ships actually follow that path in many cases (unless it's a straight line). I sometimes depend on that path to avoid "bad guys" or to simply eliminate some FoW along the way to a destination.

Thanks for your help,

Richard
