Fences update corrupted/broke my windows install. Can't boot.

Hi!

This is the second time that I updated Fences in this year and it is the second time that it corrupts my windows install to the point I have no other option than wipe it clean and start over. At glance, it seems that the problem revolves around srttrail. I tried everything I could find online about recovering windows partitions and installations but nothing worked. Last time I had to format, is there something I could do to recover? Is this problem reported by anyone, I really wanted some support from Stardock, it's the second time I lose everything. Thanks in advance.

I just took the update and now "Microsoft.Windows.ShellExperienceHost" and "Microsoft.Windows.Cortana" applications need to be installed correctly.

Muddying the waters a bit is the June update from Microsoft, which installed yesterday.

It is unlikely that Fences is a contributing factor.

@ZubaZ it is definely related since I took the fences update, restarted because of the fences update and my windows installation got corrupted and couldn't boot. Maybe I wasn't clear enough or too apologetic but I'm sure it was fences update that somehow messed my windows installation and corrupted system.

What happened to Cajun happened to me as well. A recent Windows update followed by a Fences update killed my PC. It hasn't booted properly since the Fences update, a few days ago.

Just for the record. My best friend's aunt just got the latest June Windows update. After which she was told to reboot. Her PC won't boot now either. And she has zero Stardock on her PC.

In my opinion, it's a Windows problem, not a Fences problem.

For what it's worth.....

@ RedneckDude

It has happened twice. One at the beginning of the year and another now just after updating the Fences. Surely something is wrong there.

This is why I have automatic updates disabled.
