Frequent crashes in Multiplayer

Last time we played was before Crusade and at least two major patches, so I was hoping for a more stable experience this time. Good news is that the "AI turn never ends" issue only occured once so far in several hours of play, this was way more frequent last time. However, the game crashes at least once per hour.

Do you ppl get such frequent crashes as well? We are currently playing medium galaxy, 2 human players in one team, 6 AI players without teams.

Crashes seem to be pretty random. Repeated crashes occured in those situations:

-the client player uses the left/right arrow buttons to switch between different aliens in the diplomacy menu

-the client player, as U.P. chairman, selects the "homeworld for Xendar species" thingy

Interesting.  Will keep an eye out for those events.  The home for Xendar may have been involved in one of our crashes.  It rings a bell.

We tried against 3 AI after an initial try with more players and it worked rather smoothly.  We finished a game over two sessions.  It seemed to be more stable than when increased the AI count.

Looking forward to checking out 2.3 MP.

One thing I forgot to mention is that the frequency of crashes clearly increases as the game progresses - I think we didn't have a single crash for the first two or three hours, while yesterday we even had one crash about every 30 minutes (we're close to the transition from age of war to age of ascension now).

Another situation that seems to be likely to cause a crash:
-one player ends a turn, then some popup (e.g. AI trade request) can't be displayed because the other player has some menu open

One more crash-happy situation:
-conquering the last planet, and thus defeating, an enemy race

We're now at one crash about every second turn, and the "AI turn never ends" issue increased in occurances as well (we now had about 5 in our current game so far).

This is clearly the most unstable game I've ever played, and that's after two years of updates. If it would be like that for everybody, I guess ppl would riot in front of Stardock HQ with torches and pitchforks. However, it can't be our systems, either, because last time we played (probably about a year ago) both the host and the client were different computers, and we got excessive crashes both times. Thus, i can only assume that either no-one uses the multiplayer mode (or ppl who did have left long ago), or the setup we use for our games is in some way unusual and way more crash-vulnerable than others.

Just finished a session with > 50 turns.  One crash.  Auto save loaded quickly and we were back in business.  Medium Galaxy, 4 AI opponents, Normal.

I've posted a ticket and submitted our most recent savegame.

@erischild: How long does an entire game usually take for you? You mentioned finishing a game in two sessions before. It took us four or five sessions and at least 12 hours to reach the age of ascension in our game, and the game isn't finished yet. Since the crashes clearly increase over time, this might be an important factor. The lower number of players probably accounts for some time, and the additional experience you have (our last game was several months ago, and current version with Crusade has a lot of changes, so it's pretty much like our first game). Do you play with the default game speed setting?

Do you ever use teams in your game setup? I always put both human players in a team, since we want to play coop against the AI, but I've started to wonder whether teams might be a rarely used, and thus not very well tested, option.
