Bug report: Conflict with JRiver Mediacenter

Conflict with JRiver Mediacenter

Trying to install JRiver v220108 on a Windows v1703/15063.296 results rapidly flashing installation window which loops indefinitely and thus installation fails. This is due to a software conflict with Stardock Windowblinds v10.62. Problem has propably something to do with some UI element.

Using JRiver Mediacenter while Windowblinds is installed causes JRiver Mediacenter UI to freeze (creating dialog boxes fails). Problem does not exists if Windowblinds is uninstalled.

I hope Stardock development investigates this further, as it's it is impossible to use JRiver Mediacenter while Windowblinds is installed.

Thank You.

Thanks for letting us know.

You can exclude JRiver (or the installer) from within WindowBlinds:

You can also hold the {Ctrl] key down while opening an application to prevent skinning that time.

Thank you for quick replies and good suggestions.

Excluding JRiver Mediacenter program seems to work and allows me to use Mediacenter normally. Excluding installer, however, did not change it's behavior and installation attempt still fails with same symptoms.

I'm thinking that the installer is not something that would need to be run often.  3 ways to unload Windowblinds:

1.  Right-click on the Windowblinds icon in the systray and click on "Unload Windowblinds".

or

2.  Open up Windowblinds and apply the "Default theme" - the first skin in the list of skins.

or

3.  Hold the [Ctrl] button while pressing [Enter] at the logon screen - that will prevent Windowblinds from loading at boot.

Thanks for the report.  The issue was being caused by a conflict between their custom skinning solution and WindowBlinds.

This is now addressed for the next update of WB.

To bypass the installer issue, exclude install.exe as they extract a file called that and run that.

I had the same problem with windows 10/windows blinds 10 and JRiver media centre 23 and I found that if you go into JRiver options, tree and view, change browser engine to internet explorer, it seems to fix the problem.
