Faction Conversion for crusade???

Being that the game is being released in less than a week I would think we (or I should say you) would let us know how faction conversion is going to work???

 

  • Will the game automatically convert existing factions over for us using defaults for the missing parts?
  • Can we specify/change the defaults for missing parts, images,admin portraits, etc
  • Will we need a whole new set of Factions?
    • If yes, how does the game handle switching between current version and crusade (for those of us who may want to play both)
    • Do we have to manually copy over all factions/images/etc

It is to my understanding that Factions and Civilizations are being treated as 2 entirely separate entities. They have separate workshop entries through steam.

I personally will be updating all of my workshop stuff and no longer supporting my old factions once Crusade launches.

The question from Syrkres is still unanswered.... Will our Factions port over to Crusade?  I have 80+ homebrew factions and hope they will at least transfer...

 

I have almost a 1000 hours playing GCIII but have not played in the last three months eagerly awaiting Crusade.  I cannot wait for it to come out! I just really hope I do not need to spend another 1000 hours redoing all of my factions.

There is a thread on migrating custom content to Crusade in the Founders section. The thread will probably be added to general after launch I'm guessing.

So it sounds like we will need to manually re-work   our factions into Civs is what your saying.

It more of the case that the xpac has a different location for player made content and you'll need to move the files.

If your factions are local (e.g. not on steamworks), you'll need to copy the files from one directory to another.

I guess I am asking about the ones on Steamworks. I only have a few XML factions.
