Crusade, Privateers, and Detection in Multiplayer

Saw I saw in last dev diary that Crusade will allow Privateers - fleets that can attack but don't show insignia. I'm curious, are these disguised any other way?

I'm thinking about the multiplayer implications, specifically. If I design a ship and make it a privateer, it might not bear my flag but it'll be kind of obvious if it is an Arcean ship and I'm the only player using Arcean shipsets. Or if it is a custom ship at all in a 1v1 game with AI opponents. Will other players see a "pirate default" or some other visual difference, or will Privateers only be useful against the AI?

If I recall correctly, in the most recent dev stream, they made it sound like the privateer is its own unit created when the citizen is used. As such, the ship's appearance seems to be generic in some way--not specific to a given faction. I could have misunderstood, but that's what it sounded like.

So, it seems it will both confuse the AI and be unidentifiable by human players (as long as they don't see you create it, I suppose).
