restore backup from file folder?

avira system speedup made my icons disappear

Hi, Avira Free System Speedup came on my laptop. This week it updated and installed an applet "OrganiZen" which took over my desktop and my fences disappeared though some icons remained. I uninstalled system speedup and my fences came back, but most of the icons are not there.

I tried to restore using a snapshot which showed all my icons, but for some reason it restored the same depleted fences again.

I found a file folder in Backups called All-in-One that has all my icons. Can I restore from this file, rather than a snapshot? Now that another day has gone by none of my snapshots include all my icons.

Note: yesterday before I uninstalled system speedup I tried to open fences and got the message that it must be reinstalled. I uninstalled system speedup. Today I was planning to uninstall Fences with the Fences utility and Ccleaner and then re-install Fences but now Fences is working and I'm not getting the reinstall message. Maybe I should go ahead and uninstall and reinstall Fences first and then hopefully restore my icons from the All-in-One folder?

I may be totally wrong but making a suggestion anyway. Fences will pickup the icons from the Desktop. Since you found the folder with the icons try putting them or say try one of them on the desktop and see is Fences picks it up or drag it into a fence. Also go into the programs folder and save the .exe file to the desktop and see what happens. 

It appears since you found a special folder that when you uninstalled that program it removed the desktop icons and placed them in a folder doing nothing.
