Bad Kharma i made the same mistake as u once......
U must get WRITTEN APPROVAL from the original author.

BK, if you would provide the link to the Public Domain site, that would help, but still no guarantee you skin/wall will get thru moderation.

Did the person you got them from take the images himself?

The problem is, there are a lot of sites that post what they *think* are public domain images just because they found them posted publically. Not the same thing. You don't know the number of sites that steal their images and then say "I found these on the internet, use them however you want".

If they guy didn't take them himself, you have to verify their public domain status with the source of the image. Wincusto requires you to go the extra mile. It protects your work, too.

Listen to bakerstreet on this one...

Sometimes we spend a fair amount of time hunting down the validity of a poster's claim/s.....often discovering that the works are for 'private or personal use' which generally excludes public redistribution via another website...

here is the exact legal phrasing on the site
This is a U.S. Government Web site operated by the United States Navy Recruiting Command.

Information presented on this Web site is public information. Unless otherwise indicated, materials presented on this Web site may be distributed or copied. Use of appropriate byline/photo/image credits is requested
which is what was stated in the submission I understand the needto be careful about copyrighted materials which is why I am careful when using images that are not mine

BadKharma...that image/wall was accepted. The copyright/s were checked and verified....but it's something we often NEED to do.
In the case of the Blue Angels images, etc....they are fine...but depending on the site and whether it is the legitimate origin or copyright holder or not, not every/any image/photograph can or will be necessarily approved...

BTW...it currently has 193 DLs, and 10 today....it's definitely there...

Hrm, that's odd, says it has been here since the 8th. What gave ya the idea it was rejected? Or was there a different one?

Regarding the date it's stamped with, I believe that's the day it was submitted, not the day it was accepted.

I think it should be stamped with when it was accepted, but I'm not going to argue again.

/me doesn't want to start any controversy but I think Aqua's idea is a perfectly sensible idea (and fair).

Thanks, baker....I think I got it....finally...didn't realise there 'were' two...

BadKharma.....not sure if you are aware, but wallpapers are 'moderated'....not just for 'appropriate' content but also to restrict the size of the section to a more manageable proportion. That said, very many walls don't 'make it'. The one to which you refer is one of those.
It disappeared from your 'list' because it was not accepted, again, nothing to do with copyrights at all...
