Windows 10 anniversary update version has problem with start 10 version 1.11

Hi,

I have used start10 version 1.0 since updating to windows 10 64 bit pro with no problems.

I have tried to update to start10 version 1.11 on a number of occasions which result in no text on the taskbar or start menu with the pc set to windows 7 rounded style.

This is results in re-installing start 10 version 1.0. I have no problems with any other software other than this version of start 10.

Can anyone offer advice?

Thank you

David

After you upgrade Windows 10 to build 14915, do not change color of the taskbar or in most of windows, not in the starting 10

So what  colour should you use? I have not change the colours I set windows to when first upgrading to Windows 10

Changing the colour should not have any impact on this and likewise Start10 has no interaction with taskbar text so it shouldn't be impacting that in any way.

Do you have any other software running which might be altering things like WindowBlinds?

If you use a different theme in Start10 do things work ok?

Hi,

No I don't have anything else running.

I have just the standard win 10 theme to which I add my own wallpaper, colours etc. No change of icons or sounds.

its very frustrating.

Have just uninstalled stardock10 ver 1.0 using Revo uninstaller pro and then installed the new stardock 10 ver 1.5 with no problems! Seems something in Ver 1.11 did not like my machine or the program. Tried it more than one and also downloaded it each time. Now all is well.

Weird or what?

There's a generic issue with installing updated versions of Start10 that a number of users (like me) have. See my thread below this one.

The fix is to uninstall then install again.

Back again guys!

Same old problem as before. PC starts up correctly and all icons showing on desktop BUT no text, just empty transparent boxes.

I have uninstalled version 1.5 and reinstalled version 1.0. All works well now. Something, either hardware or software, probably hardware does not work with later versions of this program.

At least the earlier version works with no problems so I will have to use that.

Oh well, onward and upwards!

TO ozgadgetguy, what's the generic problem you mention?

Similar problems here with 1.5 and Win10 AnnEd.  Tried uninstalling and re-installing, and also tried the 1.5.1 beta.  Neither helped.  Have had to uninstall Start10 altogether as it renders my PC unusable.  Shame.

See if you can get hold of version 1.0 and see if that works.

I had a licensed copy of the previous version (whatever that was - v1.1 ?) and it worked fine.  The problems only started when updated yesterday to the new version.

What problem exactly are you having?

Try to use that version again if you still have it.

Neil, I might start a separate thread, because the symptoms do look a bit different than the OP's.  My issue is that with Start 10 v1.5 installed, the Start menu and many other menus (eg in Chrome, right clicking in Explorer etc etc) become extremely sluggish.  Start menu takes 10 seconds or more to respond.  I've uninstalled Start 10 for the time being, and don't have a copy of the previous version to revert to.

What theme is Start10 set to use itself?

Also are you using WindowBlinds?

Hi Neil,

the theme is windows 7 rounded. I am using no other software such as WindowBlinds.
